will dst mess you up?
will dst mess you up?
just curious if the switch of the clock tonight will affect you. if someone wants to start a pollthread feel free to do so.
Re: will dst mess you up?
I get a definite jet lag effect from it. It takes me days to feel like I've caught up to the lost hour. Same thing in the fall, except it's a positive feeling to be chasing a gained hour

It will effect me, because I get to go into the Hospital at 2:00 AM to change all the times on the IV Pumps, Defibrilators, Monitors.............
I should be back home by about 7 AM

That sounds like a fun night to me. With all this technology available seems as if someone would fix that little problem so a human can stay home and sleep.

I listened to this story this morning. It was pretty darned fascinating.
Click here to listen to it yourself. (3 minutes)
'Turn And Jump': The Importance Of Time
Guest host Linda Wertheimer speaks with writer Howard Mansfield
about Daylight Saving Time and the importance we place on the
rather flexible idea of time. Mansfield is the author of
Turn and Jump: How Time and Place Fell Apart.
I usually try to go to bed an hour early.
The cats get wigged-out when we feed them off schedule, so I know it affects them.

Re: will dst mess you up?
They did fix it for many items, but someone in Washington got the idea to change the switch date a few years ago. So the auto update had to be turned off on the equipment that had itbap40 wrote:That sounds like a fun night to me. By the time all the equipment is replaced or updated they will probably change it again. So its easier to just change them all manually. I have two buildings 15 miles apart to do.

Re: will dst mess you up?
Time changes have always knocked me out for a week or more. It doesn't matter whether the change in time is forward or backward.
HOWEVER,
I retired a little under a year ago and I'm no longer tied to set waking and sleeping times. Based on my experience when clocks were set back last November, I don't expect to be much affected this time around. We'll see if that prediction holds true ....
Still, I really wish we could get away from this madness of daylight savings time. It's too disruptive to people's lives and the disruption to sleep cycles can be dangerous.

It sure messes me up -- doesn't matter if it is forward or backwad. I think the forward is worse though -- as it seems to me a lot longer to adjust (a month or longer).

I like when we fall back way better than when we spring forward. As it is, I have trouble going to bed early, and now I'm supposed to be going to bed an hour earlier than that! And I just remembered this when I saw the post, so I'm late!

Re: will dst mess you up?
Yup, I wish we'd stop changing the time! My whole family is affected. Like DreamDiver my cats used to get completely confused when we arbitratily changed the fedding times. One would just sit by his tray and just stare at us until we fed him; feeding him early meant the food just sat...for about an hour! Used to take about a month for him to get adjusted -- he was the most affected by the time change.

Re: will dst mess you up?
Isn't there evidence that every time switch results in lowered productivity and increased traffic accidents?
I think there are statistics to back that up. (as there are statistics for EVERYTHING)
I know that, at least until I retire, I have to use my polarized lenses weeks longer on my east-or west-bound commute,
and my home air conditioner runs an hour longer every night I use it.
(No one else turns it on unless it's demon hot.)
I wonder how many KWH that adds up to?
--Or how many people die because the sun was in somebody's eyes when they didn't expect it.
Hawaii and one other state don't have it. I guess the rest of us just aren't that smart.

Re: will dst mess you up?
Well after three hours pressing buttons on IV Pumps, Monitors and Defibs, I am sitting here feeling exactly like I did before bipap, 4 months ago. I got to sleep from 10P to 115A, then from 7 to 10 after I got home. The first nap was useless as I was thinking about having to get up in the middle of the night, and my Quatrro FF mask actually feels like a sharp knife all the way around right after shaving, and my cheap nasal mask has rubbed a sore spot on my nose. So neither one seemed to work. ( I got a Zzz mask to try a nasal before buying a good one, the confort gel is on the way!)

If you get the chance you might want to try the Quattro FX Details here: http://www.resmed.com/ap/products/quatt ... c=patientskneemeister wrote:Well after three hours pressing buttons on IV Pumps, Monitors and Defibs, I am sitting here feeling exactly like I did before bipap, 4 months ago. I went from the Comfort Gel, to the Hybrid (HYB500),to the Quattro FF Mask and finally to the Quattro FX and Love it!
It's Seal Great, is very soft on the nose, doesn't block line of sight or have any plastic, etc pressing on my forehead, all in all very comfortable!
If you get the chance, try the Quattro FX, I bet you'll like it!
