Post by anvil » Thu Mar 10, 2011 2:22 pm

just wanted to thank everyone for this message board. I have learned a lot about OSA and was able to get a machine from second hand cpap I took advice from here and got a new auto machine with smartflex the devilbiss dv54 and a IQ nasal mask from sleepnet. The machine came pre set with a 5 to 15 setting . my firs night went pretty good it was i bit weird at first but I took to it like a duck to water. I got the code from the machine and went online to get the results .. % Days at least 4 hours 100%
Day Count 1
Days at least 4 hours 1
95th Percentile Pressure 13.0
90th Percentile Pressure 12.5
AHI 3.5

High Leak Flow Time 0%
NRI 2.00
EPI 3
SmartCode FQGF-F7B-76XB

I also wanted to say I think I have had OSA for a long time and it had gotten to the point I could hardly function. I have been dragging myself around to just do what I had to get done for a long time now. I am self employed and with the bad economy money is tight and with no ins. a sleep study is not an option. thanks to this forum and the easy use of the auto machine I think I am going to make it. I can tell the difference after just one night. I am sure it will take a while to get caught up on all the lost sleep but I am encouraged. Any comments on the data would be helpful. I think it looks good but I am not sure?

Congratulations, you did what needed to be done.

I've had my Intellipap Auto for two weeks now. I tweeaked my settings to a low of 4.5 and high of 9.0. My AHI is 2.0. I'm really happy with the machine and the long nights of sleep. My shortest night was 7 hours; the averabe is 8.8 hours. I feel like I can go turkey hunting in another month.

Found a friend in my Intellipap. Sounds like you did too.

If you seem to be doing okay, I wouldn't change anything for about a week. It takes time for everything to adjust.

After a week or so, I expect you might be able to get that AHI down a bit more with a higher starting pressure than 5. Watch your 90% and 95% pressure. It means you are spending 90%/95% of you night at or below that pressure. That, and the AHI will give you some clues for any pressure changes you might make.

An AHI of 3.2 is pretty good. The medical profession likes the AHI to be below 5 to be considered good therapy but many of us here feel even better with an even lower AHI. Your other numbers show that you are off to a pretty good start as well. The data may be a bit different every day so trends are what we look for.

Several people here use that machine. I just got one a couple of weeks ago and am using it all the time for now. I may or may not go back to my PR System One Auto. I'm sure liking the Intellipap Auto.

Come often and ask questions! People here are able and willing to help!
