Hey fellow pappers. I thought it would never come, but I had an awesome day today. My facial swelling has went away with two kinds of diuretics and I lost 20 lbs last weekend. ( which caused me some trouble comming off so fast) I worked my two 12 hour shifts.. then my first day off I felt good. wow .. woke up at 720, drank some coffee...then surfed the web for new recipes for healthier food. cooked white fish at lunch and butterfly pork chops for the evening meal. Couldn't believe I was WANTING to cook and recipies,.. I usually don't use them at all!! Also was thinking of getting my banjo out something I bought years ago with an instructional video. Yes video.. that was the last new project I had before going back to school and I have not felt like doing anything other than work eat and try to breathe since then. OK you do the math..I need a vhs player..or get another instructional cd. LOL
I didn't do loads of house work or anything.. but just my mind being rested enough to be interested in doing something.. that is huge. Possibly before long can come off some anitdepressant meds.. or maybe they are just gonna work now.
since I have complained so much and asked so many questions...I wanted to let all my fellow pappers know.. There is hope out there. don't give up. I am about 2 months into therapy.
An awesome day!

Re: An awesome day!
I saw the title to your 'thread' and decided to read it as I'm looking for POSITIVE feedback re:
CPAP therapy. I just got my machine Tuesday evening and have slept with it for the past two nights. The first night wasn't all that great. I needed to get used to it more and to adjust and tweak the headstraps to get the best fit.
I've been reading a lot about the subject and I know that I've been a victim of apnea for years and have finally jumped on the CPAP wagon.
Funny, though, no one ever told me to try to sleep on my side with the CPAP...I did that last night and got lots more sleep time with the machine. I've only been out of bed for an hour, so we'll see later as the day wears on, just what benefits two days of usage will have for me.
I've got quite a lot of air in my stomach this a.m....and have been voiding it as the a.m. passes.
my pressures are 18/14...and it's surprising to me that I really can't even feel the exhalation pressure....I guess that's what it's for, though...
I'm very happy to hear that you've experienced what appears to be higher brain activity and more energy...that's what I'm hoping for, too.
Keep up the good results!!!!!!!

Great news! You will never regret the effort you put into getting cpap to work. The benefits are fantastic! What makes me sad are the folks on this forum that experience so many more problems than I did (taking the mask off at night, not getting enough rest, etc...). On the flip side I admire folks that are going through a lot more issues than I did, but keep trying. Again, I cannot express firmly enough the great benefits you can get in feeling great (after a good night sleep) and how sleep apnea cures a variety of health problems.

A lot of rental places will do a conversion for you. That is what I did with my belly dancing and chi gung tapes.

I remember being there. Just last week I was very frustrated and then it just happened. Don't ever give up. Like Sheriff just said, the benifits far outway the problems. My doctor says I will have more and more improvements in my physical health over 6 months or so. Hang in there and come to this discussion board with any problems. You will find great advice and compassionate support!
