I do not want to spoil a movie that you may intend on seeing, so all I will say is that the movie referenced the CPAP and OSA twice in the movie.
Although, the reference was in a very negative, downgrading, icky way and people laughed at in the theater. They even showed the actor sleeping with it. I will say though, that ANY ATTENTION is good publicity. Bad and good publicity is all the same. It gets exposure to something. I am sure there were other people in the theater who used a CPAP like me who also felt the sarcastic laughs about such a device, but we need it, so who cares.
So, if you see the movie or not you will know that Hollywood is now incorporating the OSA into a movie, which in time will lead the Actors to reveal that they have OSA. With that comes more exposure to OSA and CPAP. Everyone knows that someone famous usually gain awareness and exposure. So, lets see what happens next.

The jokes that was made in the power walking scene was tacky, but I was not offended by the scene showing it in use. I don't see how that was icky. Or maybe I missed something.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but I just saw the movie last night. It seems like whenever Hollywood shows CPAP in use, they go out of their way to show the most obtrusive looking gear. Always a full face mask. Never a hose cover. In this movie, they even dubbed in Darth Vader breathing noises.

I saw this movie on an overnight flight to London, good job i wasn't wearing using my machine. I could have a had a good few people looking at me and sniggeringKahfree wrote: Although, the reference was in a very negative, downgrading, icky way and people laughed at in the theater.
I noticed they exaggerated the sound and used what appeared to be the blue and white clunky looking resmed S8.
The S9 is obvioulsy too sleek and cool looking for Hollywood

Just saw this movie. They made the CPAP seem very dorky, as if it would be a big turn-off to anyone. Hmmm... Who could we get to publicize CPAP in a sexy way? Maybe we can find someone to do this and then help the video go viral. Any volunteers?

I always attributed Shaq's early endorsement of the iPod one of the things that made it such a huge success - maybe he can do the same for us
