Hi all,
I'm finally accepting that I seem to be a mouth breather, and I'm tired of having to tape, or accept dry cotton mouth. So I've decided to switch from my Swift FX to some sort of full face option. I can't seem to tolerate any of the chinstraps I've tried, including the PapCap.
First decision, a hybrid or a full face mask? What do you think?
Second decision, which hybrid or which full face? I have a normal shaped face, good chin, no facial hair.
The hybrid options seem to be the Mirage Liberty for $207, or the Innomed Hybrid for $119. The best full face options without a forehead cushion seem to be the Zzz-Mask Full Face CPAP Mask with Headgear for $90, or the Quattro™ FX Full Face CPAP Mask with Headgear for $185.
Anyway, I would greatly appreciate any feedback. I don't want to end up spending 400-500 on masks that don't work.
Thanks.

Re: Trying to decide on a full face mask option
I recommend you use whatever works best for you. The Hybrid works for many people. It works for me. It is considerably less claustrophobic than most FF masks and won't make your nose sore. It will allow mouth-breathing as necessary. I went thru seven other models before finding the Hybrid (including the Liberty...). Did my share of taping/gluing/modifying. Dunno what the final cost was, but it was worth it to sleep well.
No guarantees a Hybrid will work for you, but it's as good as any other place to start. Maybe better. If you try a Hybrid, consider the "tights fix" (search here for discussions)...that COULD make all the difference. Also "nipple grease" or "Lansinoh" (same thing).

Re: Trying to decide on a full face mask option
Its all personal preference, since your already using pillows I'd try the hybrid or liberty, both highly reviewed. I personally have the liberty just started using it and great results best results in a mask in 4 years and im anxious to try the hybrid next. I've used several FFM quattro, quattro fx, mirage ultra, and fisher 432 took a while to find my gem the liberty so far. It's all trial and error, try the hybrid get the insurance if you order thru cpap.com . best of luck
