System One Filter Problems - filter blows out

Post by JDS74 » Sat Feb 26, 2011 9:21 am

My DME sent me new disposable filters for my Respironics System One machine. These are supposed to go in behind the standard grey filter at the air intake. They are white, very fine filters.

Several times since then, I find both the new filter and the grey filter a few inches away from my machine in the morning.
I am supposing that some sort of back pressure is blowing them out during the night.

Any thoughts on how to keep them installed?

I'm having the same problem. I took the white filter out, and without that the gray filter stays in place, but it's not an ideal solution. What's your max pressure? Mine is 14.

Definitely a design flaw on PRSys1, I crease the tab on the white filter a bit, and also use a rubber band around the machine to hold everything in. I wouldn't run the machine without the white filter, don't need fine dirt in my lungs. My pressure is 11-15. Kathy

Thanks for the suggestion of the rubber band.
My max pressure is 20 but seldom gets above 17.

I have been using the Respironics "M series/SleepEasy" filters. These have no tabs and fit the system one perfect. Part number: 1035442.

I trim the filter opposite the tab ever so slightly. Problem solved. It's a dimensions problem.
