The other day I was feeling very sorry for myself and annoyed with my former doctor because my three months' trial rental of the ASV expired two or three days into the new year, meaning I'd have to meet a new deductible to purchase it.

But my insurance company is being VERY nice to me and very nasty to the DME. Highmark has decided that the rent they paid for my cpap and bipap should go toward the purchase of my ASV. Don't know how they justify that, and don't really care.

Just glad it's going down that way.

It's nice when things surprisingly work out well! My private insurance company refused to pay for supplies even though I have a $10,000 "therapeutic equipment" pool to draw from. I appealed their decision and gave justification for everything I'd submitted .. and threw in an invoice for the resmed card reader I'd purchased. Much to my surprise, they cut me a cheque for the whole amount almost immediately!

I'm so glad for you, and glad to hear that. Just so you'll know, from a bureaucratic point of view, the people who handle your request in the first place are not the same people as the one who revise your appeals. That's one of the reasons for that sudden change of heart.
