James,

That is a great FB page. However we had a discussion on here cautioning patients about "Liking" such pages. The concern is that employers and potential employers will be tipped off about their health condition and may use the information in decisions about hiring, promotion, downsizing, etc.

It would be nice if FB develops a "Secret Like" function.

Regards,
Rooster

Ahh, and they do check. I've been advised that my employer does.

If someone is working for a company that would do that it might be time to look for a new employer

I just saw something in the news about how insurance companies are denying workman's comp claims because people that are collecting are posting pictures of themselves that are evidentiary against their claims.

I know that's meant to be an offhand remark, but in THIS economy it's not a very good idea! There may be no other job out there.

Another consideration: When you change employers you may have to continue your health insurance under COBRA for 3 or more months. Thos payments exceed my house payments! So changing jobs IS not an option. My husband switched jobs once and the new job didn't work out. We had to pay COBRA for more than 6 months while he looked for another job and got his 3 months in. That wiped out our savings. This was definitely NOT funny!

With OSA, you cannot afford to be without insurance, so changing jobs is not always an option.

Sorry I am a Canadian and everyone has health coverage from the government. I'm not used to this problem. (Although we have a different problem of long wait times)
