Encore Pro 2.4

Post by jeremiahchub » Tue Jan 18, 2011 10:51 pm

Well after some sql errors and realizing that my Logitech software was jacking up the install of EP 2.4 x64, I was able to get it installed on both of my pc's. I'd really like to try to get my hands on a copy of encoreviewer 2.0. Considering I'm trying to get my bills caught up, is there anyone that might have a copy JUST so i can try it on my computers? If it works i have NO problem buying it at tax time. I just want to see if I can get it to work on my computers before I buy it. does this sound silly to anyone else?

I have tried numerous times to install the various versions of EP on my computer.

First up was the 32 bit version (before the 64 bit version was available) on my PC running the 64 bit version of Vista home premium.

I tried again when they released the 64 bit version. It always says the installation failed when its almost finished.

Later, I upgraded the same computer to 64 bit window 7 home premium (upgrade, not clean install) AND, I noticed that EP2 had been updated AGAIN! I thought maybe it would work this time, but unfortunately it would not install and errors out just like the previous versions did..

I dont know if I messed it all up when I attempted the first install with the 32 bit version and I have residual files that are causing it to fail every time now, or if its something else. but I have tried several times, Uninstalled every instance of SQL and tried to clean every thing out and start fresh, with proper reboots and everything and I just cant get it to work at all.

So, any ideas you have would be fantastic.

Well first off i'd have to ask do you want the Encore Pro 2.4 that I know for sure works on windows 7 Home x64 bit and Pro x64 bit, or would you rather have encoreviewer on the system working?

It's not that windows 7 is bad, it's the fact of the people they have writing the software don't really take pride in what they are doing and make sure that the files clean up correctly when you try to install stuff in the 64bit versions... then again when have we ever had a version of windows that would run 100% of software "designed" for windows? To me it's just sloppy code from the programers for the installation... Oh and if anyone tries to install encore pro and gets a error like "system must be rebooted before installation can continue". The system doesn't have to be restarted... some programs when they are installed leave junk in the registry and don't delete it after their installers have ran... LOGITECH is HORRIBLE about that... god i'm a nerd...

I am still looking for a working link for Encore Pro 2.** for a 32 bit machine that I can actually understand the download and install instructions. I've tried following links posted in the past without any luck in getting as far as downloading the software, let alone starting to install it.

Any help?

I'm reasonably competent on computers---as long as they're Macs or Unix-based or Linux-based. But Windows seems perpetually broken.

Hi,

I have 2.2 and was wondering if 2.4 recognizes the System One better than 2.2 ? I would be interested in the 2.4 version as well if someone has it.

Okay.... But how do you workaround it? I have a fresh install of Windows 7 here and I am getting this problem.
