Best place to buy an S9 Autoset

Post by 360 » Sun Jan 16, 2011 11:06 am

Hello all. I'm looking to replace my 10+ year old unit with an S9 Autoset. Anyone here know of a good place to buy one with the best pricing? I'll be paying out of pocket so taking my health insurance is not a requirement.

On a related not it also looks like I'm going to have a bunch of choices for masks. I have always used an Adam Circuit nasal pillow mask. I think I'd like to stay with a nasal pillow but don't know which mask for the S9 would be the closest match to what I'm used to.

I second the recommendation of cpap.com. I think Resmed regulates the price of the machine so you won't find a lot of variance there. However cpap.com has absolutely first-rate service, as I learned when my previous machine had a problem and needed repair under warranty. I don't even look anywhere else anymore.

If you find an S9 elsewhere on an online site, cpap.com (sponsors of this great forum) will price match, I think. Don't know if that applies to ResMed stuff since ResMed has some pretty stringent online-purchase policies. But worth asking cpap.com about price-matching the S9 you choose, if you see it cheaper at another site.

I wouldn't worry about trying to get a ResMed mask to use with the S9, if the mask you prefer is by another manufacturer. I'd still use the "other brand" mask I wanted to use, with an S9 CPAP, Autoset, or VPAP. VPAP ASV machines would be a different ballgame, but an ASV type of machine is not what you're looking for.

If you ever decide to get a different mask than the Adams Circuit (even though "old", that's a good nasal pillows mask) you're using, I'd suggest Aeiomed's Headrest with nasal pillows. Lets you sleep in any position, and has the neatest little exhaust vent position -- up at the forehead and pointing straight up. Never blows against bed covers, pillow, your arm, or a bed partner.

If you don't sleep on your back, the Breeze would be another one very similar to the Adams. Uses exactly the same nasal pillows as the Adams, as a matter of fact.

Bit of trivia -- Aeiomed's Headrest was invented by one of the designers of the Breeze. So, your Adams is "related" to the Headrest, by way of the Breeze, so to speak.

ResMed's Swift LT and the newer Swift FX (both are nasal pillows masks) would be likely candidates to suit you, as a nasal pillows user.
