Post by OutaSync » Sat Jan 15, 2011 10:28 am

For anybody who needs a back up SV there is one with zero hours going in a few minutes

http://www.cpapauction.com/browse/cpap- ... -_sv_.html

If I didn't already have two I would jump on this.

Well, I couldn't let the thing go for $350 to someone who doesn't even need it for himself, so I bid on it and won! If anybody needs this more than I do, let me know.

How would that Bipap Auto SV differ from my ResMed VPAP S? THanks

I'm not sure about the VPAP S, but the VPAP AdaptSV would be a similar device. VPAP is Resmed's designation of a bi-level (Variable Positive Airway Pressure) device. I assume S is a spontaneous device (it changes when your breathing changes). An S/T would be spontaneous and timed. That is if you did not change to inhalation within a certain time frame it would change to that pressure.

The ASV devices are adaptive servo-ventilation. That is, if someone stops breathing (due to a central sleep apnea), the machine ramps up the pressure to sustain 90% of the normal breathing. It adapts from a bi-level machine into a ventilator for a short period of time. By doing this, the ASV unit helps break the cycle of central sleep apneas and normal breathing resumes.

Though I did not see that unit, I might have purchased it for anything less than $500. It would be good to have a backup device. Fortunately, my DME works with a great sleep doctor, so they are more likely to have an ASV unit sitting around if mine dies. But OutaSync, I'm lgad to see it went to a good home.

Thanks, John. I've paid far more for a used one, so this was too good to pass up.

If this is Respironics BiPAP Auto SV, I sure am interested! I have no insurance, and need a backup for mine. If it's the ResMed equivalent, that would work too. Let me know how to proceed.

Thanks, Paul

I will beg, borrow and steal ( well maybe not steal!) for one of those. I am struggling on CPAP and need the auto SV for complex sleep apnea. It would also get me off my rebreathe setup which is not working too well anymore.

If Paul doesn't take it, please keep me in mind

I've been advised by a very wise person to keep the new one (assuming that it does indeed work) and auction off my used one, should I decide to sell any of them.

In the meantime, keep an eye on those auctions. I just happened to see it on the top of the screen today when I logged on. It only had about 30 minutes to go. I figured that when the new models came out there would be some dealers auctioning off their old inventory.

Dang - should've read this site this morning... that's the cost of three months' copay for me.
