Have you had Earache and headache
Recently been getting up with earache in both ears ,it is worse in left ear also sleep on left side and headache ,sometimes get up during the night to take couple of panadine to relieve the headache ,if any one had this problem please tell me what have you done about it, Thanks .
Re: Have you had Earache and headache
Am I understanding that your machine is set to an autopap range of 8 to 18? That is a pretty wide range and it could be causing ear pressure that results in headaches. Is the problem ear pressure or an actual ear ache? Others have talked about ear pressure on here. You might search that. I would definitely talk to your doctor about it, should it continue. It is clear by the lack of responses that it is not the norm. I hope you are able to resolve it soon, that sounds miserable.

Re: Have you had Earache and headache
So how long has your setting been at 8 -18 if just recently then yeah thats the problem. I had an original setting of 9-11 but after treatment for awhile and about 7 lbs. I found I was always at 11, meaning the pressure needed to be higher to be effective most likely from the weight gain. But my DME told me to adjust my machine from 9-20 so i did not thinking anything and figured it was a great idea it would illuminate any hyponea / apnea I might have. Well after the first night I got up that next morning and about took out the dresser trying to turn off the alarm. I had dementia (Extreme Dizziness) so come to find out the pressure setting was to high for my inner ear. Once I took it to 12 - 14 from looking at my data myself everything balanced out.
Also something to keep in mind - you can create Central Apnea's by having your pressure to high.
If your pressure is or gets too high your brain thinks it has plenty of air going into lungs and will think it does not need to make you breathe.
Hope this helps I would try and find a closer range that works for you - I really doubt you need an 8 -18 setting, If you find the range you need to be in it is also less startling to the body when it does need to adjust to a higher pressure.
GOOD LUCK & SLEEP WELL

Re: Have you had Earache and headache
Yes, I have been having a earache on just the left side. I too, thought that it was pressure related but now I am thinking that it is referred pain from my TMJ joint.
Searching the forums I find mentions that a full face mask or chin strap can cause or aggravate this. I searched for TMJ. I think "ear pain" may also bring some hits. You can also go read the wikipedia article on TMJ and see if the symptoms fit what your experiencing.
I have a pap-cap. And although it works much better than the stretchy chin strap I had before, it relaxes it's fit over time and has to be re-adjusted. I am thinking of getting a different chin strap.
