Nasal Aire II mask tip

Just thought I would share a simple mask tip with everyone. I don't know if it has been done already with this mask but here it is anyway.

The problem: The nasal aire II mask rubs the inside edge of my left nostril raw. I tried different lubes but the only thing that worked was Triple Antibiotic Ointment which stains sheets and clothes and supposedly isn't good for the mask since it is petroleum based.

The solution: I wanted something that would hold the mask still so it would stop rubbing the edge of my nostril. I originally envisioned some sort of cone to flare out the base of the prong so the base would fit more like a nasal pillow. I never could think of an easy way to build that though. About a week ago I had an epiphany. Mack's Pillow Soft Earplugs (moldable silicone putty) would work wonders. I break 1 earplug in half and roll it into a noodle shape. I then surround the base of the prong with the earplug "noodle". I repeat with the other half for the second prong. When I put on the mask I make sure to press it into my nose a little so the silicone molds itself to my nostril. The stickiness of the silicone putty keeps the mask from moving around.

I have been using this for a week so far and it has worked GREAT! I hope this can benefit someone else. Have a great day!

When you bought your nasalaire II did it come with all 6 sizes? You sound like you are wearing the wrong size. Are you putting it too far up your nose? it only needs to go in an eighth of an inch (and My pressure is 20 and that's all I have to do)
Try the next smaller size. that sounds like a lot of trouble for a dream mask like nasalaire II.

The prong does go almost all the way in before it seals and I keep thinking the same thing, that maybe I could use the next larger size. I have tried the next larger size multiple times but it stays deformed and leaks because it's too big. Plus it hurts. I think the inside of my nose is just bulb shaped, smaller at the opening and widening out a LOT once inside. It does seal at the end of the prong though, not at the base. I'm sure it is the prong rubbing my nostril raw though. The sore is too far in to be rubbing the flat part that the prong is connected to.

I've been using the Nasal Aire II for a few weeks and I have a number of difficulties with it, but maybe this Mack's could help? One nostril always seals and the other doesn't. Maybe if I used this product as you did on just one prong? I'm so tired I can't really think today.
