Do you have the néw Quattro FX?

Post by MoonBear » Wed Jan 05, 2011 2:08 am

Hi,

I was wondering how to choose the right size for the new Quattro. I wear a medium in the old model. I have a terrible mark on my nose all of the time, which is both unishgtly and painful, and I am heartened to read at least one woman lost her nose mark after using the new mask.

So if someone who has the new model and the old can write and say if the sizing is the same, I'd be very appreciative. hope springs eternal that this soree can finally be soothed and healed. many thanks.

I've heard from one person that the sizing is not the same. Said they normally use small in the Quattro, landed right in the middle using the sizing gauge.....tried the small, going with medium.

Wonder if that means the Large Quattro FX won't be large enough for me? Kind of like on the Ultra Mirage II, I'm a Shallow Wide...they don't have a cushion that big on any of their newer nasal masks so I can't upgrade.

The Dreamer.

For those that are using the mask how is the comfort of the mask compared to the old style quattro? Also did it help you reduce leak rates. I seem to have issues with that on the quattro that I cant seem to get resolved.

I have the "older" Quattro and recently got the email about the new one. Very very interested. Especially the lack of that darn forehead pad. While I really likme the older Quattro and find it very very comfortable it's that pad that leaves the biggest marks in the morning.

I'm going to wait a couple months and let lots of reviews come in here and elsewhere but the new mask looks pretty good on paper (screen).

I participated in the clinical studies for this. Honestly, I couldn't get a decent seal to save my life. I was very disappointed because I had high hopes for this mask.

That makes two of us... I am slowly working the kinks out of my Quattro and am considering my options in regards to other masks... the Quatro FX and the F&P Oracle (and the hybrids) are the ones I've been reading up on, but have heard mixed reviews.

ok, After bugging my DME for a week on when they would get this mask in, They got it in and I picked it up yesterday.

I ended up getting sized with a Small. I normally use a Medium in the Mirage Quattro FFM. Now understand my DME has tried to give me a small in the Mirage Quattro before, but it leaked like crazy.. This time I decided to start off with a new mask from them and let them size it and go from there.

I am one of those who have used the Mirage for over a year, Red marks on nose and forehead and all just because it sealed better.

First thing I noticed, the mask clips felt a little more flmisy. (Felt, not really are, just felt that way compared to the Mirage) Also the cusion seems to pop out at the top of the mask easily.

I did find the mask to be very comfortable, Much more than my Mirage. And as the bipap ramped up it seemed to work well. But then the leaks started, But this was not the normal leak where the face meets the cusion. At the top of the mask, where the bridge of the nose is the cusion seems to leak between where the cusion meets the hard mask plastic.

After about 2 hours of battle I gave up and put on my Mirage for the rest of the night.

I really want this mask to work though, because it was very very comfortable. And if I can solve the leak issue I think it will be my favorite mask.

Some things I plan to look at,
1) It's possible I have too small of a a mask. I sized at a small, but if tonight fails tommorow I will ask for a Medium from my DME.

2) I may have been putting on the mask wrong. I used my old method with the 3 clpis attached. Tonight I will give it another go using the 'hinge method' that they show.

I'll give it another go tonight and let you know what I find. Again, I really want this mask to work.
