What does E48 means?

Post by coffee888 » Tue Jan 04, 2011 8:30 pm

Hi.

Couple nights ago, I was using my SleepStyle 254.. An error message, E48, came up.
Do anyone know what it means? Do I have to send the machine back for repair??

Thank for your help!

Tried to do a Google search for you and came up with nothing. Appears you have to contact Fishel & Paykel (or your DME) to find out what the code means.
Here's the USA phone number for Fishel & Paykel.

That sounds more serious than the E47 error.

Anyone with E48's please PM me their phone number and we can meet up for a couple of glasses of fine wine. In fact anyone with a C36 or greater, same deal. Below C36 I am afraid we are going to have to settle for beers.

My machine just gave me the same error code last night, did you ever find the answer to this?

Per Fisher & Paykel: "Thank you for contacting Fisher & Paykel Healthcare. I'm sorry to hear that you're having difficulties with your CPAP machine. E48 indicates an error for the communication between the two processors inside the unit. If the unit is working fine now, then it should be okay. However, if that error persists in the future, you should contact your homecare
provider to see about getting a replacement."

Hi,

I also got the E48 error code with my SleepStyle 254 last night.

To those who had the same problem: Has the problem persisted so you had to get the machine repaired/replaced, or was it just an one-time problem so you can live with it? My machine's warranty period will end soon, so I am anxious about how serious E48 could be.

Thank you.

MK

I spoke with Resprironics (Phillips) and they stated that E48, was related to circuit board directing air flow, or air flow tubing failure. My machine is over 10 years old and they stated it was no longer servicable, but could be serviced or repaired at specific service centers around the country, however everyone I talk with tells me a new machine is better value.

Why would PR have any information related to Fisher & Paykel machines? The machine in question is a Fisher & Paykel. You might just as well consult Xbox; Error code E48 - This means there may be a problem with the console.

You may not have needed to call Respironics.
The list of error codes for the Auto and Pro 2 were posted in this forum years ago.
But, if you have a different model, the error code may have a different meaning as some have changed over the years and with different models

You could check with http://www.acbio.com to see if they can fix it and the cost.
They're an authorized service repair depot for both Philips/Respironics and ResMed.

I doubt if different manufactures build the same machines or set in a back room and compare error codes.

At 10 years old, repair may well be wasted effort.
But if you choose to be a tightwad and risk your health, it's your funeral.
