Headgear

Post by brendatv » Sun Jan 02, 2011 12:41 pm

I am a newbie to CPAP. My mask came with a "medium" size headgear. It seems to be too big as it bunches up a bit in the back. Does this affect the effectiveness of the mask?

The small quattro comes standard with a medium headgear, go figure, it shouldn't be uncomfortable, it the bunching isn't fixed by adjusting get a small head gear from your DME, they should exchange it for you.
Any landing you walk away from is a good one; if you don't break your airplane it's excellent.

I ordered an extra small Quattro. The mask that came was extra small, just like I ordered. The headgear, however, was "Medium." The headgear was too big for me...the mask itself was perfect.

I called cpap.com to ask why "small" headgear was not sent with the extra small mask. They told me it's the way the receive it from ResMed. And sure enough, it was a sealed package, so "Medium" is what the manufacturer puts in, even an extra small mask.

The mask worked fine with the headgear bunched up, just as you describe your headgear does. I decided to "lab rat" mine, so I cut a couple of inches off the top of the bottom strap that goes upward, up the back of the head. I'm not good at sewing, but I can put some rough stitches in. I sewed the cut/shortened straps back onto the top strap behind the head. Headgear fits with no bunching now.

May I ask, WHAT IN THE WORLD is Rested Gal doing with a Quattro? Tell me it was a Christmas present for Rudolph?

A Quattro?
