French Canadian newbie here ;-) first night tonight

Post by Homer1959 » Tue Dec 28, 2010 1:38 pm

Hello everyone, I am making today my official entrance on this board and I look forward to have a lot of fun on a serious subject.

Tonight is the night, this is going to be my very first night with my new stuff My machine is all set up, my provider did an excellent job, I spent 90mn with her, btw she was gorgeous but I'll keep that for another board.....she really took the time to explain everything in detail, I've tried 3 mask, choose the mirage micro, I have 3 months to make up my mind with the equipment including the mask that I can trade for a different model at no charge.

I was diagnose with severe apnea with an average of 66 episode per hours, I dont have other detail but its sufficient for me . I am looking forward better night I'm tired to be tired.

To conclude sorry for my Frenchglish iespecially if I gave you an headache

Welcome to the forum.... I hope your first night is successful, but if it isn't, you have come to the right place to get the help and advice you'll need to make it work for you. If you would take a moment, go up to the User Control Panel (top left) ---> Profile--->Edit Equipment and choose your gear and then choose to show it in TEXT not pictures. This will put your equipment at the bottom of every post your write so we know what you are using. It helps those who have the same machine, mask, software, etc to help you better.

Bonne chance ce soir! ... and come back tomorrow and let us know how it goes!!
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

Welcome, Homer!

Your English is much better than my French!!

It is good you can exchange your equipment if you need to. Especially the mask. Many times the first mask is not the best for you.

You did not say which machine you have. Some of them provide detailed information about how well it is working for you. Cheaper ones do not. We recommend you use one that gives the details. If you can tell us the brand and model you have, we can help you decide whether you want to get a better one.

It make take a while until you feel less tired. Do not be discouraged. Use your machine and it will happen for you.

There are several of us from Montreal on the board here. Including Francophones as well as us Anglophones who can read and speak but are too challenged to write it.
Welcome!

Welcome from a Nebraskan.
My husband grew up in Belgium, but has forgotten his French.

Welcome to the forum and I hope you adjust well.

I'm still waiting for my prescription and then the machine. I see you are using the machine I've looked into getting, let me know what you think as a first time user.

Welcome. I've only been here a week myself. I live in Godmanchester (near Huntingdon), and just got my machine last Tuesday. Last night was my first night sleeping right thru, from 10:30pm - 5:00am, w/it. Then I went back to bed and slept until 8. It takes a while to get used to having the mask on, and to the limits the hose puts on you, as well as the air blowing into your nose. My first 2 nights with it were close to sleepless, but after that it got easier.

I have to say, I don't feel much difference yet as far as the ever-present fatigue goes, but I have other chronic illnesses to deal with, and have been super busy lately. Plus, I think it takes a long time to heal from years of inadequate sleep. It's important to remember that it is a healing process, that just because the damage may not be visible doesn't mean it is not real, and that the fatigue and sleep apnea symptoms need to be respected as much as symptoms from any other illness. I am focusing on getting as much sleep as I can, as my body is asking for, with the machine.

Good luck tonight. This forum is a wonderful place to ask questions or read answers to other peoples' questions. I've learned a lot here.

One tip that has been helpful - keep an eye on any pets you may have around your machine. Cats like to use the hose for claw sharpening and one guy's dog farted into his intake in the middle of the night and almost choked him to death. Yup. Still giggling over that one.
