Is the VAuto mode on the Resmed VPAP Auto the same as regular auto CPAP mode in the S8 and S9? Wondering cuz I might be able to get a great deal on a VPAP Auto. Should I go for it?? (Would I likely never need to use the S mode bi-level with pressures below 13 and mostly hypopneas?)
For that matter, regarding the auto CPAPs:
It's a little difficult to sort out the experiences of different users and determine which machine might be best for me. I am one who apparently now has more hypopneas and snoring/respiratory-related arousals than true apneas (according to recent sleep study, 2 hrs off/3 hours on).
With the S9 supposedly being more aggressive with pressure increases and staying up for longer than the Intellipap, is that a con for someone like me? In reading old threads on the Intellipap auto vs. Resmed autos -if I understand correctly - it looks like some are of the opinion that the Intellipap responds to apneas and hypopneas the same, and does not increase pressure for hypopneas. I'm still working on understanding the therapeutic responses to various events, so can't yet evaluate how this plays into my choice of machine.
I did read a couple of Krakow's articles about flow limitation/UARs/RERAs. And several old threads, plus many many machine reviews and comparisons.
Thanks.

Re: VPAP Auto vs. Autoset
I think I figured it out: VPAP is adjusted for both IPAP and EPAP while the auto CPAPs adjust the constant pressure (minus 1-3 on exhalation relief).
Any way to guess whether I'd sleep better with a wider than 3 gap between IPAP/EPAP? I've never tried exhalation relief and my pressure is low, but I'm not sleeping as well as I think I should be on CPAP. (Though better than when I started 5 years ago, of course.)
ah, the things to weigh when buying a new machine and switching to auto CPAP (or auto bi-PAP).....

1] You can NOT buy a bi-level w/o a script specifically for a bi-level.
2] You can NOT buy a CPAP w/a script for a bi-level
Two different types of PAPs. Two differend HCPCS (insurance) codes.
