Pillow masks and motorcycle traveling

Post by stanta » Sun Dec 19, 2010 5:34 pm

I ride motorcycle and if I want to take a weekend trip i MUST bring my box and mask along. Currently I run a Breeze but the fragility of the system scares me and it is rather rogod making it high volume for packing. I have used the Swift before and didn't really like it but it did work, now I see the FX and am curious about it. how small of a package can it be made into for packing and is it durable. Obviously on a motorcycle space is at a premium and while I can't afford a different box mask choice can make a different between an extra pair of sock or even a teeshirt.
always a hosehead, almost a hoser.

Swift FX is pretty flexible and tiny. I can't think of anything smaller.
It would be a good idea to sleep with it a few nights to make sure you will be comfortable--before your trip.
Happy trails.

I ride too and use a Swift FX. It will take up less space and it is not fragile. Buy one and use it before you take it with you. I think you gona like it. Ride safe and enjoy.

My Sleepweaver is the tiniest to pack, even more so than the FX, but not everyone likes it. And the FX is almost as small, so if that works well for you it would be a good choice.

Don't forget that the Swift FX has a hose (around 18 inches long, give or take). That increases the overall bulk, making it comparable in volume to larger masks.

Compared to about 14" if rigid headgear on the Breeze the hose is NO problem

In my opinion, the hose that comes with the FX mask does not handle the rigors of travel very well. I have crushed several of them. They do OK while I am at home, but on the road they seem to just fall apart. If you wrap them in plastic food wrap and secure them with electrical tape they do quite well. 4 wraps is good for a pressure of 13.

Other than that, it is a very compact mask.

Stant a
Check out the loaner mask program, you can try any mask you want. It costs $7 for shipping to you, you try it for a week and send it back. I'm waiting for mine, should be here today...sure better than buying one and then hating it. It is sponsored by Dane at Sleepnation TV and its easy to sign up, just read the thread and you will see how many of us have used it so far.
Cheers

I laid out my Sleepweaver and Swift FX side by side and took a picture, but then couldn't figure out how to put it in a post. I can roll up the Sleepweaver and cup it in my two hands with nothing sticking out (I'm female, smallish hands), can't do that with the FX. Might get you one more pair of socks. However, I do know (from this forum) that some people haven't been able to use the Sleepweaver at all, and you might want to look at their website and see what you think. There's a video that shows how to fit it, which I found very helpful.

And there may be other small masks, these are the two I happen to have used and had on hand.
