4 nights on CPAP, feeling better but still rainout! Argh!

Post by FamilyNature » Sun Dec 05, 2010 8:35 am

It's been 4 nights on a machine for me and I'm feeling better. Unfortunately, I'm still getting water in my mask at night and I find it very distracting.

I have a hose cozy and I put the machine on the floor. I started the first night with the humidity set at 3, then went down to 2 the next night and down to 1 last night. It's better but I'm still wiping water away through the night. Someone suggested hanging the hose and I haven't tried that yet (because I'm still trying to figure out a relatively easy way to do that).

Any other suggestions? Our bedroom is quite chilly at night -- we have an older house that isn't all that well insulated. It's often much cooler in our bedroom than the other rooms in our house. Could that be a factor?

So, other than buying a new house (or spending a fortune insulating this one) ... any suggestions?

Really I found that the expense of the heated tube was worthed. I am in my country house in the week ends and the rainout is over.

Have your tried passive (no heat) humidification? I never use heat.
I handle my OWN CPAP use without doctors.

You could try putting the hose under the covers. That seemed to help before I got the heated hose mentioned earlier.

Should keep the unit off the floor as the air intake filter gets cloged faster due to floor dust. Heated hose is the way to go.

I agree with the other members. I purchased an Aussie Heated Hose because my husband likes the bedroom very chilly - 62 degrees in the winter months and the Aussie heated hose makes it very comfortable for me and my cpap. I also use a heated blanket at night and between the two of them, I am nice and cozy and we don't have to turn up the heat in the bedroom!
