Something really strange happened last night

Post by nobody » Fri Nov 26, 2010 7:13 am

Something really strange happened last night. I woke up and my face was itching so I reached over to turn the CPAP off so I could lift the mask and itch my face. But when I pressed the button the CPAP turned ON. Some how during the night it had turned off, or I turned it off in my sleep??? I do wake up a lot with itchy face and have to turn it off to scratch. (I don't have the "auto off" feature turned on so it couldn't be that). I don't remember turning it off and actually I'm surprised it didn't turn on. Usually it turns on if it senses my breathing, but I suppose the mask flap was down to expose the emergency breathing holes? I was using the quattro FFM last night.

I think your concern should be to take care of the itching, and you could, for instance, try the Padacheek liners so that the silicone or whatever it is that's causing the problem is neutralized. I otherwise think you just probably hit the off button by mistake just prior to waking.

Well unfortunately the itching is inside where nothing is actually touching the mask. I don't know what to do about it, I've tried thing suggested here but nothing really works. It is very aggravating.

Someone reported success in eliminating that irresistable itch by thoroughly rubbing and wiggling the face before maskup.

Or how about something radical... ask a dermatologist.

Sorry, this answer is no help to you but I wanted to share something funny that just happened to me also.
Ever since the "bug in hose" story I have been putting a knee high over the end of my hose sucured with a rubber band. I usually take the hose off and hang it up but this one time I just left it on the bed connected with the knee high on it.

That night hubby went to bed before me, so I was very quite and didn't turn on any lights.
I just layed down and put the hose on the mask.

I had read on the forum that day about someone who was hearing low noises from their machine, so I remember laying there very comfortably listening. No noise..........I went to sleep.

The next moring I woke up and was not attached to the hose.
I was thinking I must have taken it off in the night and not remembered. That would be very very strange for me.

Then, I remembered the knee high......Somehow I just shoved the end of the hose on with the knee hight still attached
I guess I was getting air, but at some point just lost my conection.

Well now I know you can breath through a knee high stocking.
No bugs gonna get me

gvc it's ok.
I still cringe when I think of it....after your post someone posted about living in Texas and having lots of those bug.
I've only lived in Texas for 6 years, and yes it's buggie, BUT OUTSIDE.
Well anyway we have upped the exterminator and I'm feeling ok now...but I still putting on the knee high

It was a good picture I just wish it hadn't been in your hose. Maybe next week I'll be able to laugh about it
