Never heard from the sleep ctr. after I walked out the door.
Never saw the "sleep specialist" that "read" my sleep study.
I completed cpap Rite of passage w/The Big A, to acquire first apap.
PCP provided written Rx to purchase apap/cpap machines.

Treating physician/RT is yours truly.

I am my own best therapist.

I said that.

It is a fine line between my primary doctor who wanted me to have a sleep study and the pulmonologist who read and monitors the read out and adjusts it accordingly. They frequently talk with each other regarding my therapy.

Never met him. PCP wouldn't write RX for S9 autoset for husband, so it cost us an extra $400+ over and above 10% copay.
Doc knows now that is the only way machine would've been used.--unless he doesn't believe us.

The neurologist at the clinic I attend, where all my doctors happen to be. She read my original sleep study and followed up and I will see her again in 6mths.

I saw a pulmonologist 2 years ago when i was diagnosed. Once I was set up with my equipment I treat myself unless a problem would arise.

My internist sent me to a pulmunologist who ran the sleep study. I just ditched him in favor of a multi-discipline team at a teaching hospital's sleep clinic. The doctor I see there didn't have my data for my first appointment, so I'm looking forward to meeting with him in three weeks to find out why I'm on the ASV and what it's doing for me. I haven't reached a point where I can do my own treating since I don't fully know what exactly I'm being treated for.

I've had 5 sleep doc's. One I fired, others either moved away or got out of the sleep business.

I ended up being my own sleep doc and RT. I asked my primary care physician if I could get prescriptions from him for
CPAP supplies & equipment, when necessary, he declined. So I was without a sleep doc for a couple of years before my primary gave
me a referral to another sleep doc.

I've been seeing my current sleep doc once a year for several years.
He has no problem with me being my own RT adjusting my pressures etc. Now that my wife has joined me
as a hose head he didn't mind me determining my wife's pressure or adjusting her machine. Her sleep study was not able
to determine or suggest a starting pressure, only that her sleep apnea was severe, 90's with lots of centrals.

I don't know who read the results of my first sleep study. Turns out the doc I previously fired ended up reading the results of a second sleep study
I had a few years later.

The doctor who read my sleep study results wrote my presciption for my machine and mask, but I treat myself. I also am my own best therapist and feeling great because of it!

Right now its my primary, he requested the original sleep study....and summarized the summary to me, and wrote the scripts.

I tried writing to the sleep doctor that wrote the summary, but never got a response. Though not sure now that the letter went to the right address....

But, I did get to seeing a sleep doctor this summer....and next week I'm getting another sleep study ... wonder who'll be in charge now?

The Dreamer.

I am a long-time apnea patient (22 Years) . Over the years I have had four different doctors: the first three were neurologists, and my current doctor is a pulmonologist. Two of the neurologists practice in a noted university hospital, the other was in private practice in my town. The pulmonologist practices in a neighboring town, and is the most thorough doctor who has seen me. Every doctor has seen me personally and spent a satisfactory amount of time reviewing my examinations. I liked every one of these physicians and have no complaint regarding any of them. That said, like other posters, I am my own advocate regarding continuing treatment.
