2 Nights on Resmed Auto Vantage

Post by walleyek » Thu Nov 17, 2005 8:15 pm

My nose couldn't handle the 14 cm H2O constant CPAP pressure so I moved from an S8 Escape to an Auto Vantage. My two nights have been terrific, 7 1/2 hours of use each night, where I was lucky to get 2 hours in on the Escape.

I read the clinician's manual and one thing stuck out. The manual said in AUTO mode the machine would not administer pressure higher than 10 cm H2O when it detects an apnea. Ideally, wouldn't I want the pressure to reach 14 to avoid/shorten the apnea, since 14 is my titrated pressure?

My new machine pressure didn't exceed 10.6 either night, but my CPAP setting with the Escape was 14. My wife said she heard some "gasps" last night. I'd be really disappointed if this new machine cannot deliver the therapy I need.

walleyek, I have the ResMed Auto Spirit and I love it.

I got up to 14 for my pressure the last night for the first time and I felt great all day.

I feel the APAP is one you have to get use tp.

I have my pressure range set at 7.6 up to 18.6

The machine will still administer and pressure you needed for Flow limitation or snores without any limits. The 10cm H2O limit is to prevent the CPAP therapy from causing apnea that can be central not obstructive in nature. I have the Spirit and it will many times go above 10cm H2O
