How to figure "AHI" PB-420E

Post by pogue » Thu Nov 17, 2005 3:44 pm

Can someone tell me the math equation to figure out my nightly A.H.I.
I am specifically asking about the info provided on the PB 420E.

this machine shows::: APNEA
Hypopnea c/a
Hypopnea
Hypopnea (FL)

how do I add these and come up with my AHI for the night ??

Add the apneas and hypopneas. + AHI

CA is linked to central apneas. The machine hears your heartbeat while you are not breathing so it determines your airway is open but no attempt to inhale.

Fl is other partial obstructions like stuffy nose, sinus .

Hope this is simple enough for you.

I don't think that's right, isn't there some division in there somewhere ?

There shouldn't be any division....usually the numbers are already divided. Like Apneas 3.4 plus hypopneas 1.2 or something like that....those numbers are usually already posted as by the hour, not the total nightly ones.

If you see the total for the night, then yes, that has to be divided by the hours.

AI + HI = AHI The unit has already done the math for you.

CA & FL are other . Cardiac . No breathing but heartbeat is heard so airway is open. A Central apnea.

Flo Limitations. Other than hypopnea, Stuffy nose., sinus, undetermined breathing anamoly.
