Heavy Mask
Heavy Mask
I have been on Cpap for 7 months. On my 5th mask, which is a Resmed Mirage Quattro Full Face. The one before was the Flexifit Nasal Mask. They both seem so heavy on my face. Especially the new one. I am doing well as far as using the cpap, auto pressure has really helped. But it weight of the masks seem to wake me up and drive me crazy. My face is still sore today. Any suggestions. I still wake up tired. But do have more energy.

Re: Heavy Mask
Was the Flexifit a full face or nasal? If it was a nasal, was there a reason that you went to a full face this time? If you are looking for a light nasal mask, you may want to try the easylife or comfort select or fusion. If you need a full face mask there arent many light ones on the market. I think the full life is one of the lightest but I have had issues getting a good seal at the bridge of the nose at higher pressures.
One other thing that may help with any of the masks that you have is getting a piece of velcro to put around the tubing and safety pin or clip it to your sheets with enough room to move around. This may keep the weight of the tubing from pulling on the mask and making it seem heavier than it really is. CPAP.com sells hose supports that basically do the same thing.

Re: Heavy Mask
I have the same mask.
Make sure the hose is laying on the bed. Or in other words, dont let the hose "hang" or it will cause it to "feel" heavy.
I have tried a zillion masks and come back to the quatro. First few nights I had a heck of a sore on the bride of my nose.
I started backing off the "dial" on the top and put a band aid on the bridge of my nose. The band aid works great and it's cheap.
Need any other help ?
