Resmed software not working

Post by Spirit » Thu Nov 04, 2010 3:50 pm

Hi,
I haven't checked my data in approx 2 weeks, today I upload data to card, download to computer, and since Oct 24, only 50 min of data was recorded, everyday afterwards.

Possibly a bad card, but I have no clue, what could be causing this. Incident happen to anyone else, that could be of assistance.
Thanks

It stores 180 days of summary info and just the previous 4 night's detailed info.

Hi Muse,
Hope your doing well? Thanks for reply. What's happening is, each day after 24th of Oct, recorded data is only 50 min of sleep time, per night, not recording 6-8 hours of sleep data. Maybe hdd on resmed cpap, needs to be formatted. Hopefully someone knows how to do this.

Your CPAP machine does not have a hard disk drive. The data is stored on chips.

You could try a new card, but because this has happened on several nights, all recorded in different places on the same card, I don't think that the card is the problem. My guess is that the machine itself is not recording the data properly. Have you tried unplugging the machine, waiting 20 seconds, and then plugging it in again? That will cause the machine to reload its memory.

That's a good idea. In fact, it works more often than not with any electronic equipment that seems to get strange. If not, then try a new card (just in case). SD cards are cheap. The alternative, such as if your machine is toast is a very expensive proposition. I hope your machine just "re-boots". Good luck.

Hi,
Thanks for replies, I tried rebooting unit, and also tried a new card, still same thing. Attached an image, so everyone can see, exactly what is happening. Only changes, I made on computer was install new security software. Will disable to see what happens. 24th was the last time, unit seemed to work properly. Last night, only recorded 30 min.
Thanks

Spirit

I suggest checking to see what the time setting is on your machine.

If the installation of that software and start of your data issues coincide, that would seem to be a strong causal indicator for the problem.

The S8s were introduced in 2006. Most insurances will only replace a CPAP every 5 years. The S8s were/are sturdy, durable xPAPs and I would expect them to last considerably longer than just 4-5 years - so - yeah, I'm sure there are a lot of people still using the S8s. As a matter of fact, I am still happily using a Resmed S8 VPAP Auto that was introduced in early 2008. The S8 IIs came out later in 2008 or was it 2009?

I expect the Resmed S8s, like the Respironics Legacy series (the beloved "tank"), to last a good long time past 5 years of continuous use. I'm not so sure the PR SystemOnes and the Resmed S9s have the durability and longevity built into them that the S8 and Legacy series did.

LOL

I have two S8 II and my HK buddy just bought a backup S8. They work great and see no reason to change.

Not all of us have the funds to buy an S9! As for insurance, unless it breaks, ya ain't getting a new one. I bought my S8 a 1 year ago as insurance denied my medical necessity to upgrade to an APAP, they didn't change their decision when we appealed.

I was given a brand new S8 AutoSet II in late June. I believe they're still being made.

I have a Resmed S-9 since 06/25/2010, and since September it is not registering my hours used per day.
Or showing it on the machine. I have had the "chip" in to the DME at least a dozen times, and they say its
registering for the weeks and months, but not for the daily. And they don't know why or how to fix it?
I can't figure out , how it can accumulate any hours from a zero daily reading or from a 1.5 daily reading?

I took the chip back again this week and they said I was in compliance. But, I am wondering if the machine
is just saying a standard reading and not really recording it and adding it up.
I want to be able to check it every day myself, to see how many apnea's and hours slept, and its just isn't doing it.
And the DME don't know
what is wrong with it or how to fix it or how to problem solve it. At one time I had two chips she gave me and the
one changed the face of the thing , or what we can see on the dial there, so I took that back and she gave me another
chip, which then that looked more like it but that when it stopped registering.
I just got a brand new machine yesterday and it still says I slept zero hours and zero apea's! And I slept 7 or 8 hours!
I like this Resmed cuz its quiet, I hate to change machines, but right now I am renting it , through Medicare. Does anyone know what is wrong
with it?
I want to be able to check it myself , daily , like I used to be able to do the first 3 months I had this.

I wish we had a "Tech" from Resmed on here that would help us problem solve these problems. It looks like many of
us have been having problems with this machine! thanks
