Due to poor sleep studies I've sufferd for the last 3 years.. 1 year ago I started steping up my pressure from 11.5 and finally leveled off at Auto CPAP 18 cm min / 20 cm max 4 weeks ago. Can't believe the difference. I had my 1st vist with a sleep doctor last week, I brought my readings for the Dr to review, the graphs show that I'm hitting 20 cm sometimes 20 - 30 times a night. Dr sent me home with no changes. Dr wants to see me 6 months for a follow up. I may need another machine that can exceed 20 cm if I start feeling bad again. In the meantime, the Dr said if I need a little more pressure out of my machine I could change the elavation to 6000 ft. 3 sleep studies, little or no REM over the last 3 yrs does not do a sleep apnea suffer any good.. By the way, can the sleep study bill my insurance company if the test was inconclusive??? $5300.00 and I have to pay 20% of that. The sleep center called about 5 months ago asking for payment and I said the test was inconclusive and asked why I had to pay. They said they will check into this, well it's been 5 months and I've not seen a bill or received a phone call back. But I see my insurance company paid for 80% of the test.. This was back in April. Just curious on the insurance payment thing.
I can't speak to the insurance thing... but for the pressure item, you really need to get a second opinion.

It just doesn't sound right.

If you went in for a blood test to see if you had a condition, say anemia, and the results were borderline or inconclusive, you'd still have to pay for the test. Same here. They did the work, and generally should be paid. The insurance company obviously agreed. As far as your share, they MIGHT have written it off as a courtesy, but you should check to be sure because you don't want a nasty surprise when they send you to collections. Call the billing department and ask about the status of the account.

the only time my machine would go up to 19 was because I was leaking thru my mouth like a wind tunnel, this made my average
look a lot higher than it should have been..

How are your leaks?

When I had my sleep study, if you didnt sleep a wink, they would refund the total price of the test.

I dont know if incluclusive results is a reason why you wont have to pay for the test, but maybe..

I have had lots of inconclusive tests I had to pay for.

I hope you dont have too..

Wow, those pressures are high! When mine went that high during the titration phase, I started having lots of central apneas, so my sleep doc started me much lower and I'm doing well. I'm not suggesting any changes, but are you having centrals at those high levels?

I notice you have the software listed..

so you have been downloading all your data daily, do you see any patterns?

sometimes its helpful to chart and print your daily graphs and keep a diary too..
