My significant other has traumatic brain injury. He also had a stroke in the pons. The pons is the portion of the brain that controls balance, fight or flight, and some of the mechanical aspects of making sounds.

I definitely see this effect in him when he doesn't get enough sleep. Keeping up a conversation requires eye contact, a lot of turning back and forth if more than one on one, and of course speaking.

Definitely makes sense to me. Fortunately, I'm an introvert

I think it's also possible that introverts, used to being on their own in more ways than extro's, and resolving personal issues in their heads vs bouncing off others all the time for support and feedback, may have built up better coping resources in general to deal with life, of which sleeping is just another part.
