New S9 Quesitons

Post by pb5927317 » Sat Oct 30, 2010 6:58 pm

Everyone,

I was doing very well with an S8 Autoset, but after having the 3rd one fail in 6 months, my DME gave me an S9. I wish the footprint was the same, the way the humidifier came out the front was perfect for my bedroom layout. In any case, my AHI has dropped from an average of 7 to an average of 1.2! Is this normal, I am sleeping better as well.

My BIGGEST complaint is that I wake up very dry. I had my setting on 6 last night, and I used the whole tub of water. I would consider lowering the pressure (15/20), but it appears most of the night the machine keeps me around 16.

I did notice the EPR on the S9 is very improved as well.

Pat

Thanks for posting those comments and question. I hope your therapy goes well with the S9.

Yes, that is normal in that AHI data from home machines are estimates meant to be used for trending purposes only, and the S9 calculates its estimates differently from how the S8 made its calculations. Therefore, the two numbers from the two different series can't be compared to each other meaningfully. The idea is to see if the averages from one machine trend up, trend down, or stay the same over weeks at a time using that same machine.

If you are using that much water, make sure you aren't leaking therapy out of your mouth somehow. Are you still using the full-face mask listed in your profile? Is your leak rate good? How many hours do your sleep?
