Nose hurts :(

Post by Tjabo » Tue Oct 26, 2010 3:18 am

Hi, i was sick a couple of weeks ago and during that time there was some extreme wear and tear on my nose, now it feels very uncomfortable at night and some bleeding when i remove the mask at morning.
Sleeping a couple of nights without the mask is anything but a good idea so looking for alternatives and i got one an idea, im mostly a mouthbreather so i thought of "removing" the nosepillows from the mask and use something similar to a clothespin to seal of the nose so the air cant escape.

Any chance it might work for a couple of nights?

Nosepillows.

Have you tried putting Lanisoh lanolin ointment directly on the irritated parts of your nose and just inside your nostrils before putting the mask on at night?

Also check the straps of your headgear and make sure they're not so tight that they're pulling the pillows too much into your nose at night.

You might try using a full face or a nasal mask, suck as the quattro by Resmed, or any on the nasal masks for a few nights until your nose heals. You might try swimmers nose clips to hold the nose closed, but I wouldn't try a clothspin. Good luck, keep us posted.

I have not and have no idea what it is yet, will google it.

Its not firmer than it absolutly have to be to work.

Have gone through all fullface mask the hospital have and the only one that works is mirage liberty.

that would qualify as "similar to clothespin"

Hi,

I think that would hurt your nose even worse. What is very handy is having a full face mask as a backup for situations like this. Even a nasal mask might help.

I developed a tiny blister on the tip of my nose 2 nights ago. It doesn't hurt much, at least not unless I wiggle my nose. Then I notice it, and I have an irresistible urge to touch it. Then it really hurts. The only thing I can think of to help is duct tape...

Lansinoh is a highly purified form of lanolin. It is used by nursing mothers to help with soreness and is safe for infants to ingest. You'll find it in stores in the baby products aisle.

I also think that attempting to pinch your nose closed would hurt more than the pillows.

I use a cheap-o band aid on my nose at night.
It seems to work great and it stops the nightly wear and tear on my nose.
