How to BUY Encore PRO 2.4???

Post by jonquiljo » Sun Oct 24, 2010 11:44 pm

I want to look at waveform data and therefore need to buy Encore Pro 2.4. I tried installing a copy of 2.2 on a spare Windows 7 laptop and got a failure - SQL Server 2008 doesn't want to install on Windows7 (32 bit).

I'm sure I can get an Rx to buy the software - it seems however, that no one wants to sell it. Respironics seems to have a problem with software in general (Resmed too), though it's just getting me angry. It's not like I want it for free - I'll pay for it - but they are apparently annoying about letting only the clowns (DME's, DR's, and Calist) getting their software.

Given a valid RX - is there anywhere I can just buy the damn software??! I assume it will work on Windows 7 32 bit - the big problem seems to be buying it.

Any ideas? CPAP.com doesn't seem to offer it. Thanks.

Or any ideas how to install 2.2 on windows 7? Existing threads do not seem to report success.

I am not familiar with Windows 7 but in other versions of Windows there was an option to open programs using compatibility with older versions. There is a place to setup when you open the program the computer will open in the Windows system that you designate, Try searching for it and hope this helps.

Couldn't get it installed on Windows 7 directly but ran a version of XP under Windows 7 and installed it for to see what the differences were between that and the Encore Viewer program that I bought. I liked the viewer program it works well enough that I haven't looked at the Pro version on XP for a long time.

You could give the Virtual PC and XP a try and see if it installs.

You could also try installing SQL Server yourself beforehand and seeing if you can get Encore Pro to use that installation instead of trying to reinstall. There's a free version here: http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/en/u ... ry-it.aspx

That's a good idea. I'm not sure how to point Encore PRo 2.2 at the (separately installed database). I'll try it and see if I get anywhere. What boggles me is that Windows 7 seems to be compatible with everything, unlike Vista. Encore pro 2.2 was from the Fall of 2009 (I think), so by then even Vista as outdated.

I tried the original SQL server under windows & using both XP compatibility mode and Vista (SP1) compatibility mode - both failed. I tried these because on my initial installation attempt of Encore pro 2.2, it gave me an error message right away that it would only proceed on Vista SP1 or XP SP2 (not SP3 - which makes me think that the Repironics software people live on an island in the middle of nowhere).

So I'll try your link from my laptop and cross my fingers that the install package doesn't try and overwrite SQL server with an inferior version. In each of my aborted attempts to install all of this - it installed enough of sql server to show it as an added program on the computer. It just wasn't all there. I had to use system restore to get back to a point where it lost all of the mess it had added. Luckily it's a spare laptop and has nothing on it to lose if it crashes to bits from bad software installs.

No wonder they don't seem to want to sell this stuff - it is practically impossible to install! I guess that's why they push EncoreAnywhere. If they hired just one good software engineer, none of this would be a problem. But EncoreViewer 2.0 is a joke considering what data the machine really takes in (waveform, etc.).

It would be interesting if some of the other members who already tried to solve this problem could answer to this thread. Me too, I'm stuck with my old XP computer because of this situation with the software.

All what I know is that it was possible to install 2.2 in a computer with Vista 32, if you make a research you will find the details. But let me tell you that it was a laborious experience not to beginners.

I don't think we can buy the 2.4 version even with a Dr.'s prescription, I hope I'm wrong on this.

What's it take to get EncoreAnywhere then? This is moronic. Respironics makes software that you can't buy a current version of even with an Rx, not that it probably will work anyway. Resmed asks for an Rx for their software, but I see nowhere that sells it.

What are these companies afraid of - patients actually seeing data? There's no legal liability on their part. That's why you accept terms and conditions when you install these things.

Now DME's can apparently get it but they generally don't know what the stuff means anyway. They just want to program and sell machines for as much as they can. Many Dr's - mine included, don't have the software.

It's correct that sqlserver 2008 32 bit will NOT install on a 64 bit os, fugedaboudit. Even trying to install sqlserver 2008 64 bit separate and then just installing encoreviewer 2.2 (without sqlserver that comes with it) would not work. You need 2.4 64 bit for a 64 bit system.

Now the bad news. If you have tried to install 2.2 and got the failure then if/when you get 2.4 you will get an installation error and it will not install either. You will have to either do a system restore to before you first tried ti install 2.2 or do a clean re install of windows. Even removing all file and registry remnants manually will not work. SQLserver 2008 is a real pain.

I see you have Encore Pro 2.4. Where did you get it?

Will it work on a Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit machine?

Could you please tell us where and how can we get the 64 bits version? If we know where can we buy it we would buy it gladly.

Thanks for your help.

Add another to the list that would like to buy the 64 bit version for windows 7, to replace the one now installed on my old XP computer. Thanks
