Auto S9 presure settings
Auto S9 presure settings
I am going from a standard CPAP S8 to a autoset S9. The S9 is set with a pressure range of 5-10. My old CPAP had a constant pressure of 10. Tonight (my third night on the autoset S9), I woke up and had to go to the bathroom. When I turned the machine off to take the mask off, the pressure was about 7.5. When I got back from the bathroom, the pressure started back at 5. I felt like I was smothering and was unable to go back to sleep. Should I ask my doctor to set the minimum to 7? I think 5 is definitely too low. Also he did not set the upper limit higher than 10 because I'm complaining of mask leakage. I'm thinking he should set the upper limit higher or with no limit. I can worry about mask leakage later. What are your thoughts.?
Re: Auto S9 presure settings
Yes you should let your Dr. know. I was set at 5 and felt suffocated. Then my Dr. raised it to 7. I know some people on this board sleep with the pressure at 4. When talking to your Dr. question why he stopped at 10. Usually you should be a point higher than your CPAP measurement. I feel your pressures should be 7 to 11. Do you have a resource to look at data? That would show you AHI and if the pressures are working for you. Also you can just change the pressures yourself if that is what you want to do.... treat yourself.

Duckie,
I have the Bob software download. I have installed but haven't looked at the data yet. Meanwhile- how do I reset the pressures myself? This seems to be a big secret by my respiratory therapist and my Doctor!
