Good first night, I think.........

Post by DonkeyBoy » Tue Oct 12, 2010 7:23 pm

Hello all, decided to say "Hi" and thank the forum esp. the old-timers for the many insightful posts. I got my equipment yesterday and slept 5.5 hrs with the mask on last night. The results were decent I think for a first night........few or no leaks, 14 AHI instead of the 31 I was diagnosed at.
I finally took the mask off around 3 am as my sinuses were so congested I could no longer breath through my nose. How long can I expect this to continue? Oh.....I had a vivid dream for the first time in weeks and didn't get up to use the restroom at all.......normal is 2-3 times p/night.

How are your sinuses usually at this time of year? If they're usually congested, what do you tend to do to help?

If the problem is new, you might want to experiment with the humidifier setting. For some folks, setting the humifier higher really helps sinuses. Others, however, find that their sinuses seem to do better with lower humidity settings. So play around with the humidity.

Sounds like a great first night.

There's several things that help the nasal congestion:

1. You will have to experiment with the humidification. Too much and too little humidity can cause congestion, so take it slowly and try to find just the right setting for you.

2. Use a saline rinse once or twice a day to help clear your nasal congestion.

3. Ask your doctor about a steriod nasal spray if you have any allergic rhinitis.

5. Likewise ask your doctor about an oral antihistamine like Claritin or Zyrtect at least during "allergy season".

Hi,

I have a skew nasal septum them must be corrected, because this hinders my respiration.
Also the nasal sinuses are corrected.

Currently I have some little problems whith breathing and my sinuses. II have a chronic cold.

I have a OP on 06.December this year with everything is corrected.

After this OP all this discomfort is away.

Regards,
Astrophytum
