hose fittings
hose fittings
Because I'm traveling, have a need to assemble/disassemble my Resmed S9 several times a week. The hose fittings are always very hard to remove, to the point I'm afraid I might cause damage. What does the collective brain power/experience base think would happen if I put a small amount of Vaseline on the fittings so they will come apart without superhuman strength?
Re: hose fittings
I don't think Vaseline would be very good for the hoses.
I use "quick connects". I have one on the end of the hose that connects to the machine and one on the end that connects to my mask. Makes it really easy to connect and disconnect. Even if I have to get up to the bathroom during the night, I don't remove my mask, I just pull the quick connect.
They are available at cpap.com.

Re: hose fittings
I use the quick connects on both ends all the time. What I have discovered is that the rubber ends of the hose tend to "loosen up" if you take them on and off too many times. Then they start coming off too easily.
Re: hose fittings
Yes, the wear and tear on the hose ends is another reason i use the quick connects.

Re: hose fittings
Well I don't unplug my S9 ClimateLine hose that often as I have another travel machine for when I travel, but over the past 6 months the rubber end of the ClimateLine has expanded to the point where I had to use tape to keep it a tight fit. Manufacturer replaced under warranty when they saw how much it had stretched in 6 months.
I'm not sure if anything will reduce the stretching of these other than not unplug them at all. Afterall most hose ends are a rubber compound and rubber can stretch and likewise shrivel under varying temperatures.
Thanks
Dave

Re: hose fittings
How long is the warranty on the climateline hose? I am thinking about buying one.
