CozyHoze Boss with large slanted headboard

Post by Marcman » Sat Oct 09, 2010 6:00 pm

Got a chance this morning to put up my Boss. Following the instructions, I placed it about two feet up from the pillow, which works out to just a few inches above our large curved headboard (it's sort of a sleigh bed I guess you could say). Put my hose in one of the loops and laid down and simulating rolling over and such. My impression is that this device is pretty cool and is probably going to help, though I don't think I have the optimal positioning and I think the slanted headboard is impeding it a bit. Since the hook is on the wall and the headboard is fairly slanted, that means my head is somewhat far from the wall, compared to a bed with a straight headboard or no headboard. So instead of the retractable cord on the Boss coming straight down, it's coming at an angle. Also the hose movement is restricted somewhat by the headboard I think. I actually have only put one velcro loop on the hose. I tried the second velcro loop and thought I'd need it since I have a ClimateLine hose and it has a SnuggleHose cover on it, so I figured it must be pretty darned heavy. However, it seemed that with the two loops, there was too much upward pressure on the hose, which was trying to yank my Swift FX out. In general, when I roll over, I don't think the Boss is giving me more hose easily enough, so it is tending to pull on the nasal pillows. I'm thinking that the slanted headboard is perhaps not the ideal install for this device.

Anyone else have this configuration. Does it work? Any tips?

I thought perhaps that it might be better if I installed some kind of shelf above the headboard and then attach the Boss to the shelf so that it's out a little further and more in line with my head, but I'm not really sure. And I don't know if I'm too keen about having a bookshelf above my head since I live in earthquake country. I guess I could also just anchor a small block of wood to the wall to do the same thing, but I'm wondering if my thinking about the angle being not ideal is even correct before I start putting stuff up on my wall that my wife will probably gasp at....

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Sorry I don't have this system but I do have a S9 and a climateline hose. The climateline should NOT have any snuggle hose on it.
I'm sure that someone else will be a long to help you sort out the rest.

I also use a CozyHose Boss but I don't have your configuration. I wouldn't worry about the Boss pulling on the hose at an angle. Just try different attachment points to your hose to find out what works best for you.

I too have noticed the tendency of the Boss to pull a little too hard on your mask IF it is attached as suggested in the instructions that come with it. My solution was to move the loop farther from the mask until I found the desired amount of pressure from the reel on the Boss . In my set-up, the two loops of the Boss end up relatively close together - about a foot apart. Your configuration may vary, depending on where your cpap is located, how high the Boss is above your mattress, etc.

I hope this helps.
I'm workin' on it.

I wonder if mounting the Hoze Boss on an "L" bracket or a plant hanger hung over the bed would solve the slanted headboard issue?
