I've been using my machine for about a month now. Aside from some burning reactions on my face early on, things are going pretty well. I'm still tired during the day and I'm VERY tired in the evenings although I've been getting an average of 7.5 hours of sleep a night.
I took my card to the DME to download for the doctor. He looked at the report on his computer and said it was very good. He printed the summary page for me and under Sleep Therapy Stats I have
Average Time in Large Leak Per Day: 16 seconds
Average AHI : 1.3
CPAP pressure: 10
My doctor called later that day and said it looked great and she hopes I'm feeling better.
I think I'm still adjusting to the machine. Is there more detail I should be looking at to figure out why I'm still tired?
My first month report
Re: My first month report
Erika,
I was told that around week 3 or 4, I would hit the wall, and go through a period of craving sleep, as the body was so relieved to be getting assistance finally.
This was explained as "sleep rebound" to me.
This is exactly what happened to me, so I didn't fight it, I just gave the body what it wanted, 10-11 hours sleep per day, 8 at night, 3 during the day. I am now 12 weeks in, and I really turned the corner around week 7. Now I only have a afternoon nap, about every 3rd day.
Everybody's recovery rates are different, because everybody's circumstances are different. But by reading through posts, you start to get a good general picture of what to expect. The best advice I can give you is to listen to your body. Don't get frustrated if you are still tired. Your body is telling you something. It wants, (and needs), more rest and recovery. 4 weeks in, is very early days.
