Help! how do i know if my humidifier is working

Post by HERMSQEEZY » Mon Sep 20, 2010 1:08 pm

Hello everybody,

I have a Resmed s8 auto II with a humidaire 3i and i am waking up with a sore throat and dry sinuses regardless of settings. The humidifier heats up at first then it gets cold again within 20 minutes. At the setting I have it set to (3.5), I go through 1/2 reservoir of water a night.

I have never had any rainout even when I have it cranked up as far as it goes-although the water is gone in the morning (my loaner unit came with an H4i and it rained out like crazy when set to 3. I noticed in rescan that I cannot select a humidifier, the choices are none and front cap-it comes back with "Failed to apply settings" if i select either of these options.

Is there something wrong with the S8, the humidifier, or the operator? Any help would be appreciated.

The humidifier setting should automatically set to H3i when either the H3i or H4i is attached to the S8 AutoSet II. Don't forget to remove the off-white oval plug on the front of the S8 from the electrical connector (and store it in the socket inside the humidifier) before attaching the humidifier to the S8.

cpap.com sells a kit to upgrade the H3i to the H4i. The H4i holds more water, and, I believe, has a better air circulation pattern.

Thanks for responding, I'm confused about the off white plastic plug that you are talking about..is it the oval one on top of the humidifier reservoir or something else?

I contacted Secondwind and the plastic piece that is on top of the reservoir should be removed, which was probably not helping the humidifier any. I hope that was the issue..
