Unable to adjust pressure

Post by evrgreen » Mon Sep 20, 2010 7:20 am

I have a Remstar System One Auto A-Flex.

I can go into clinician's mode, but regardless of where I set the Min and Max pressures and whether I have it on Auto or not, it is delivering a very high pressure that I can't reduce. I should have, and records indicate it used to deliver a pressure of about 8, but even if I set it manually for the minimum of 4, it seems to be putting out what I would guess to be its maximum of 20 as it lifts the mask off of my face.

Any suggestions?

Have you set the Apap vs Cpap to Apap? It's a separate setting - don't assume you're automatically in Apap, though you do sound like you know the difference.

The pressure the machine is blowing should appear on the screen when it is running. What is it showing?

Thanks for the two replies!

Yes, I've got it on Auto and even when I set the pressure to the minimum of 4, it will show the pressure as 4, but it is much, much more.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if the mask is lifting off your face, as you describe, the machine will blow at max pressure trying its' best to compensate for the "leak". It will only slow down once it senses a back-pressure equal to the setting pressure. That's normal operation.

Hold down the big round knob and the small button for 5 seconds.

As kempo said.

And here's another post about how to access the PR System One provider menu:

Once the device is powered, the home screen appears (it is a large box on the screen with four little boxes you choose from by turning the control wheel). Turn the whell to toggle between teh four options and highigh "setup".
Once setup is hilghight pres and hold both the control whell and ramp button on the device for at least 5 seconds (pretty simple, considering there are only 2 buttons).
You will hear a quick double beep and the provider mode screen will appear, you are now in provider mode!!
