Waiting for new IntelliPAP. Peogramming ?'s

Post by Sillyme » Sat Sep 18, 2010 1:05 pm

I finally gave up and ordered an IntelliPAP Auto Travel CPAP with C-Flex (correction - Smartflex) from Second Wind. I badgered the sleep lab staff into specifying it, but when my new DME got the Rx it instructed them to disable everything - even the C-Flex - and set the pressure to a straight 12. I'm so tired of fighting with everyone. I have a great primary doc and a neuro that I could probably have gotten a new Rx from but it would have taken even more time. So . . . I should get an unprogrammed machine in a few days. I don't suppose it will come with programming instructions. Anyone know how to get them? I want to get started as soon as possible.

Hi,
I know you will be happy with your new IntelliPAP AutoAdjust w/Smartflex (cflex is what another brand calls it---and Smartflex is a bit different in that it has Rounding in its algorithm that makes it very smooth!!). I purchased mine from SecondWind, too, and they included the clinician manual with it so you will have no problem setting it up. If you do, feel free to PM me. You can either run this in auto mode with a pressure range or in cpap mode at a straight pressure. What did your Rx state as a pressure? Was it 12? If so, you can set the auto for 9-14 with the Delay (ramp) beginning at 6 for however many minutes you want. I fall asleep very quickly so I have mine set for only 10 minutes.

Let me know how you like it..... SecondWind has excellent customer service so don't hesitate to call them if you need to speak with their RT.

Best of luck!! BTW: You can purchase the SmartLink software from our host site: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/devilb ... ystem.html If you get this, you will need to purchase an SD card separately and format it for FAT16, although the one I bought was already formatted.
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

Thanks so much. Second Wind actually offered to send it directly to my doctor for programming.

There may be some confusion on my part (that is often the case). I suspect that you may be looking for the Set-Up instructions and maybe not the monitoring program/ Smart Link system.

1. Plug in the machine. (do NOT turn it on yet)
2. press and hold down the DOWN and DELAY buttons
3. press the on/off button (the Clinical Menu should come up, if not unplug and try again)

Once you get into the clinical menu,
1. use the Left and Right buttons to move through the menu
2. use the Up and Down buttons to change the settings

@nosbig17 -- the OP doesn't have the machine yet. I appears he had the vendor send it to his doctor's office for them to program it. This vendor will include the clinician's manual to help do this. Your instructions are correct, but for many, having the booklet in front of them is a better way to go.

@sillyme -- it is nice that your doctor is willing to program it for you, but you should learn how to do this yourself, too! Becoming pro-active and taking charge of your own therapy is essential as your doctor won't be available every day or at the drop of a hat when you need to tweak your settings.

I do hope you will get the software to monitor your therapy progress and know what is happening during sleep. I have found viewing the data invaluable.

Best wishes for great therapy, successful use of your mask, and sweet dreams!!

Needed both. Thanks. Can't wait to get started again. This is not what I was saying a month ago before I began. Hopefully I will never forget how much I backslid in just a week of no CPAP.
