Res med s8

Post by Fifi » Sat Nov 05, 2005 5:32 pm

Has anybody tested the s8 yet?

How does it differ from the spirit with regards to amount of data/information available from the software?

Ease of use?

I have an S8 and from what I have seen thus far the data output is the same for all S8s that store data.

Cheers

If you get the "Compact" model the only thing it gives you is hours of use. this is the one that the DME gave me.

Is it that you can only get the 'hours of use' because you do not have the software to down load clinical information or is it because there is no software available and therefore you cannot download the information.

DSM

I do not understand what you mean by
your message. would I be able to download clinical information from the compact New S8 if I bought the software?

No the S8 Compact only gives the hours of use / days readings it does not collect any data of any kind even under the clinic menu. it is a good quiet machine does what I need it to do but I would like to be able to collect data. there is no smart card or data port available.

Thank you Dave for clarifying that. I was actually lied to by a representative of Resmed in UK who looked at me straight in the eye and assured me that one could obtain the same clinical information as one can from the spirit and then proceeded to say that we should not need to access the data any way!

I think it is bad that the representatives of Resmed in the UK can get away with telling blatant lies just to make a sale!

I was VERY tempted and close to buying the machine but resisted as I vaguely remember reading something before about this ie that one cannot down load data.

All I can say is I am glad I did not buy it!

Thank goodness for Cpaptalk.com, They saved the day once again!

I am tempted to promote them ie cpap.com in the UK since it appears some larger companies in the UK have no respect for the individual!

Honesty and truth are very important and this site really works for me and full fills that criteria.

The original post only said "S8". It did not specify a model. The S8 Autoset Vantage Apap Clinical Menu gives you info on pressure, leaks, AHI, AI & HI. I believe this is true for the S8 Escape Cpap as well, but am not positive. I do not have the software, so cannot answer your questions as to what difference there is in the info obtained between the two.

The auto vantage is the only auto of the s-8 series . See comparison guides.... https://www.cpap.com/cpap-compare-chart ... -CPAP/1954

Other s-8 comparison. https://www.cpap.com/cpap-compare-chart/CPAP/2004

FYI, the S8 Escape only gives you compliance info. I know I had one and I exchanged it with my DME for an S8 Vantage that gives you all of the info you want as long as you view it before 12:00PM each day. Then, it disappears from the LCD display.
