How many hours a night do you sleep poll
ok let me explain. i set it up so you can pick two answers but that's only if you need to pick the nap selection as well as the hours.
this poll is for those that are currently using a PAP machine at night even if you only use the machine for 3 hrs etc. still pick the total hours you sleep during one night on average.

I picked 7, but I average about 7.5. I would like to sleep longer, but my body wakes up after 7.5ish hours, even on weekends most of the time.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
When I first started XPAP, I slept 8 to 10 hours a night in blissful sleep. Now I sleep 6 hours in bed, not near a well either, but it's my own fault, I fall asleep watching T.V. in the evening after supper, I seldom see a whole show, in and out for 3 hours, then I computer for hours and go to bed about 4 A.M. I set the T.V. to go off in a hour or so, 5 to 5:30 A.M. Sleep until NOON unless I have somewhere I have to be. I know this is a problem, and is wrong, and i still need to use XPAP for my naps, as I wake up with a jolt in the chair.
Need to use my Pulse Ox for the naps, but i'm sure it will confirm my destats at that time. Anyway do as I say don't do as I do!!! My way isn't the best way, but it works for what I do. Jim

I sleep better and longer before cpap than I do now. Only minor difference. I'm still waiting for that energy to come my way.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
I am new to this forum and this is my first time posting.
About 4-6 hours. I was recently diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and have had my machine about 2 1/2 weeks. Have had a cold most of that time and haven't used my mask every night. I have the ResMed S9 Auto Set & Elite with H5i. I am using the Swift FX nasal pillows and am having a hard time getting used to them. I have an appt with the medical equipment folks tomorrow to see if I need different head gear. Right now, I am kind of discouraged that I am not able to adjust well.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
Gahannagal, hopefully things will settle down and this adjustment period will give way to more restful sleep. If you continue to have problems, do start a thread with your problem in the title so it doesn't get missed among other posts. And do consider registering and noting your equipment, as that way it will show with your posts each time and you won't need to keep rewriting it. It would be discouraging to start treatment with a cold. Maybe when it totally clears up things will fall into place easier. Hang in there.
Although I voted in the poll, I probably shouldn't have, as my issues with sleep are due to Periodic Limb Movement Disorder, not the OSA. If not for the PLMD, I think I'd be sleeping 8 good hours a night.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
After 3 months of getting use to cpap, making all the final small adjustments and the weather starting to cool off, over the last 8 days in a row I am averaging 7 to 8 hours each night!!! YEAH!! Before that I was only averaging 5 to 6.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
I posted 6 hrs, but that could be disputed, since I invariably stay up later than I should - stupid, but what else is new , and then my darling $%*(#) cats make sure I don't sleep past their 6 am breakfast time (and no I will not close the door... they sleep with me and keep me warm). But then I very often have a midday nap (with machine), so... what does that count as?

I try to sleep between 8-10 as per the instructions of my sleep doctor. So far it's not helping. I am still napping.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
i checked the 7 cause for the last 5 nights that's what i did - have been working with sleep specialist for 4 months - finally went for repeat sleep study last week and learned i had been sleeping with the wrong sized mask for the past year - looks like it may have played a large part in the 5-6 hours i was averaging

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
Actually between 7-8 Hours, the machine tells me 7.4 Avg.
Long time user since 1996 anyways, most likely should have started at least ten years before that though.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
I usually get between 6 and 7 hours. I don't sleep straight through the night anymore.
Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
I am the 10+. Surprised I'm the only one so far....but not really, because I look around in my life and don't know anyone else that sleeps as much as me. Even after 10-13 hours, I get out of bed very reluctantly (still sleepy).
Anyone here USED to sleep 10+ hours every night, before CPAP, and it got better? Still hasn't gotten better for me yet, so we're not sure exactly what the cause is. It is extremely frustrating.

Symptoms: severe daytime sleepiness and fatigue/tiredness, oversleeping and hypersomnia, dark circles around eyes, sometimes brain fog.

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
Have slept for 10-14 hrs at time but then again it was after being up for 24-36 hours straight(shift worker). Must admit that now I sleep about 7 and wake up feeling great. Before I would sleep 10 and feel like crap. Cpap I feel has allowed me to get the quality of sleep that my body requires instead of the quantity of not so great sleep before.
