I have been working on improvement of my therapy for about 1 month..
I've finally got the AHI below 1.0. I was very happy about this .But by some more sturdy on results, I've realized that , there is a rise in CA values which was almost zero when I had larger AHI values.
What is happening ??????????
Is my brain refuses the precautions ?????????
as far as I know hypopnea and obstructive apne are something related with narrowing throat physically. whereas the Central apnea is due to your brain.
So, I solved the problem related with Hypopnea and obstructive apnea by achieving sufficient setting of my Bipap machine.
How can I reduce the CA values ?
Do I have to try some medication ?
Or ,
this is only due to adaptation of my brain to new conditions ???????
does any one have an advice for me ?
Thank you ?

Re: dropping AHI rising CA.........
semreka, how many centrals are you having? A few centrals is probably nothing to be concerned about. We often hold our breath for a moment when we're turn over at night, and that can show as a central event.

Where are you getting your data from? The LCD screen isn't as reliable as the software, and neither is reliable unless your leaks are under control (not Mouthbreathing). Jim

The ResMed S9 Auto tends to show centrals when you hold your breath as you turn over at night; it also shows centrals when you get up at night to visit the loo and push the off button more often than not. They generally show up as 10 - 12 seconds and I tend to ignore them. Don't get me wrong, it is not a major issue with the data from the machine but it is indeed an annoyance. One needs to read the rest of the data to understand what is going on for certain... minute flow, leakage, etc. I've just dropped a bundle on oxygen apparatus and am going to drop another bundle on same to do the feedback loop thingy; but the next thing on my list is one of these inexpensive EEG's that will at least show me some indication of my periods of REM sleep. Now to get all of the clocks synchronized!

Information on inexpensive EEG machines would be interesting.
Re: dropping AHI rising CA.........
Were you seriously planning on conducting your own EEG? Unless you're a trained technician with lots of experience and the proper equipment it's highly unlikely that you'll get a reliable read-out even if you get a 'cheap' machine. There's just a bit more to an EEG than say, clipping a home oximeter 'alligator' to your finger and that doesn't even cover the huge number of reports you need to have studied to qualify to do the interpretation.
