Before You Were Diagnosed . . .

Post by Slartybartfast » Thu Sep 02, 2010 8:39 am

. . . did you ever have dreams like these?

1. I was underwater, heading for the surface. But I couldn't get there. Somehow the smooth, rippled surface of the water remained just out of reach. Then I'd awaken breathing heavily.

2. I was trying to escape my house through a small window set up high on the wall near the ceiling. The window was too small to get my shoulders through, there was no air in the room and was running out of breath. Then I'd awaken breathing heavily.

3. I was in an underground tunnel, looking for a way to the surface. Suddenly, I see light coming through a crack in the ground above me. The air is getting close . . . hard to breathe . . . I can get my hand through the hole, but couldn't get out. Then I'd awaken breathing heavily.

It's odd how, though the dreams all ended the same way, I never connected the dots until after I had my sleep study, and my machine. I'm sleeping like a baby now!

I never dreamed before I started on CPAP. Now though I do and it is really cool to remember a dream like I was there.

I like your username by the way. I get it. Hahaha!

I only remember dreaming a couple times a year before cpap,

but I did have a very intersting choking dream I do recall, it was awful......

facinating how our sleeping minds try to make sense of what his happening to our bodies..

I'd have to say that due to the nature of Sleep Apnea you dream a lot less prior to diagnosis and getting treatment, so I didn't dream that often, but when I did it was usually falling off a cliff or falling down an elevator shaft whilst in the elevator. Both types of dreams would have me awaken extremely quickly, and I would be gasping for air in a panic. Little did I know that it was my brain sending me signals to wake up quickly due to Sleep Apnea.

Thanks
Dave

YES! YES! YES! Every dream I remember I had prior to cpap was drowning or suffocating related. My Doc told me it was because I was having an apnea event and WASN'T breathing..............that's when he sent me to the sleep clinic
Cheers
