Hello
I had a pressure of 10 for along time and now they had to increase the pressure to 16.
Tonight will be the first time I will be at pressure of 16 the whole night.
Did anyone find it hard to get use to that pressure and what kind of problems if any did you have?
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Sudsy

Does your machine has ramp? If so, set it to gradually work up to that pressure so you can adjust.
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

I started at a pressure of 16 a long time ago. It isn't hard to get used to. What you might want to do since your machine doesn't have C-Flex is try 16. If that is too much too soon, then increase by 1 each night until you get to it.

Re: from a pressure of 10 now pressure 16
I have a pressure of 16, and have been on it for about a week now. When trying on masks at the DME at my pressure, it felt like my whole head was inflating! It was just awful. But I found that by using ramp, the pressure increases gradually and it doesn't bother me at all. I don't even notice it when I wake up now. Last night I decreased my ramp time to 15 minutes, and was definitely still awake within that time frame (got caught up watching a tennis match on tv before falling asleep) and I wasn't bothered in the slightest by the high pressure.

Re: from a pressure of 10 now pressure 16
Believe it or not my situation is reversed.
I was titrated at 15 cm in the sleep test. Took a while to work out the issues and ended up getting a Resmed auto bipap (V25) With this the pressures often hit 17 or 18 max even up to 20. I had all sorts of issues getting used to those pressures. Ended up I found that you can tolerate the pressures after a short while but the leaks were really hard to manage. Swallowing air was an issue but the auto helped with that. But the only way I could effectively manage the leaks was with the Respironics Fit Life mask (this one covers your entire face). I endured 4 months of this and found the AHI results still really sucked and I didn't feel any better. I went back to the Dr and the manufacturer (they thought the machine was not working properly)
Turns out the machine was working just fine - they had my titration settings wrong - too high. So central sleep apneas were being induced. My old settings were EPAP 9 and Pressure Support 5 and average pressure was somewhere around 15 with max up to 17 or 18. Now the settings are EPAP 7 and pressure support 3 with the average around 12 cm or so. LIfe is so much easier at the low pressure.
I wish you good luck in finding a solution that works for you.
