Sleep
I've been fiddling with my mask and have finally I have it where it's not digging in and has a good seal at the same time. I went to sleep with it on (yay) but woke up with it off (boo) and don't remember when I took it off. I'm not as tired today as I usually am so maybe I kept it on for an extended period of time. I work strange hours, go in at 3 in the afternoon and leave at 330 in the morning. My sweety is on the same kind of schedule, since we both work it we try to stay with the same kind of hours even when not at work. Went to bed at 5 or so and woke up just before 2 this afternoon. That's a lot of sleep for me. Even medicated I usually only get about 6 hours at the very most. I was supposed to pick up my sleep study report last week but life has gotten in the way, I'll get tomorrow when I go to work. It's very nice to be able to come to a place like this and have people just like me, who've actually been through this and can relate to me.

Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.
Re: Sleep
Taking the mask off os common when you first start on cpap. Just keep telling yourself you really really need it, and to keep it on the whole night. Brainwash yourself before bed Mask problems can be a reason for taking the mask off, so a good fitting mask will help avoid the problem. If your current mask just isn't working for you, it may be time to try another. Be patient with yourself, relax, and tell yourslef you NEED to succeed at this! Practicing during the day helps too, both in terms of getting a good fit and acclimating your brain to your new sleep setup.
Sounds like you're on the right track!

Give it a few days. It is possible that this was a one-time event. It is also possible that you will out-grow this phase. If it happens repeatedly, then it is time to do something about it. If nothing else, there is always duct tape. Or rather, 3M breathable surgical tape or common blue painter's tape. Put a little across two of the headgear straps. The stickiness of the tape will wake you up if you try to take off the mask. This will give you a chance to talk yourself out of taking it off.
