I just got diagnosed with severe OSA.
I just want to know if there is a way to determine the right CPAP machine.
Any advice would be appreciated. thanks
How do you determine the right CPAP machine.
Re: How do you determine the right CPAP machine.
I can only tell you the _wrong_ PAP machine since I don't know your situation.
A non-data capable machine.
Whatever you get insist on a data capable one. Something that goes above and beyond basic compliance data (avg hours used).

Re: How do you determine the right CPAP machine.
The right one is one you can get and get started with treatment. Other than that, it really doesn't matter. There are certain bells and whistles that are nice, but not actually a requirement.Sanadol wrote:I just want to know if there is a way to determine the right CPAP machine.
The mask is where you take the trouble to fit yourself out properly, and that has to be determined by you because your face is unique. The right one is one you will use.
Re: How do you determine the right CPAP machine.
I have a resmed s 9 autoset, its one of the best.
I have a swift fx nasal pillow mask
a opus 360 headgear with fischer and pakal nose pillows..
I have a full life mask, which is useless because it leaks into my eyes..
I have a comfort gel mask which I got yesterday, it does not leak, but I couldnt sleep with it..
Everyone is different, but if I had it to do all over again I would..
buy the resmed s9 autoset as my first machine
the swift fx nose pillow mask as my first nose pillow mask
and the opus 360 for back up nose pillows..
and if you breath thru your mouth, thats is different story..
then you will need a full face mask, and good luck with that.. I have had none..
p.s. also the type of machine you should have depends on what KIND of apnea you have and how severe it is.. and
if you have lung problems, or central apnea.. all these issues need to be considered to match you up with the proper machine.

I study the machines. read the specs, monitor this forum to see what others have said about them, keeping in mind the latest and greatest syndrome. The newest model may be the most popular, but that doesn't make it the best. By studying the machines at https://www.cpap.com/ anf reading everything you can here, you should be informed to choose.
