Problem with Remstar M Series w/A- Flex SmartCard
Problem with Remstar M Series w/A- Flex SmartCard
Just purchased the Encore software and reader....I have been overriding my doctor prescribed setting from 8.0 to 9.0...but when I downloaded my data, those dates show no data available. If you over ride your Smart Card settings, does it not record the data? Thanks in advance!

Re: SmartCard data- HELP please
is it as simple as purchasing a new Smartcard?
Re: SmartCard data- HELP please
Is that the machine you have? I am having trouble figuring out what your problem is.
I am wondering if the machine in your profile is the machine you have.
What does it say on the top of your machine?

Re: SmartCard data- HELP please
Hawthorne- thanks so much for your response! I have the Remstar Auto M Series with A-Flex. If I override the setting that is programmed on the card (by holding down the arrow keys and plugging in the unit to access the setting menus etc)....and increase my pressure to 9.0 from 8.0, the next morning when I download the data it does not record the previous nights data. I tested the card by pulling the card back out and putting it back in, which reprograms the card back to 8.0 as set by the clinic.. the card records data when it is used with the Dr. programmed settings. So I was wondering if when you are in "over ride" mode (not sure what the correct term is for that- newbie sorry)....if it doesn't allow the data to be recorded to the card?
Thanks so much for your interest in helping me!! : )

I know nothing about Respironics machines. That disclaimer out of the way, why don't you try setting the pressure on the card itself? The instructions for doing that can be found on page 4-2 of the clinician's manual, which is about page 19 of the PDF file.
I suggest you download that pdf file, if it is appropriate for your machine, so that you will always have a copy. It has been provided through the generosity of one of the members of this board.
Re: SmartCard data- HELP please
LoQ- thanks for the info! Looks like that manual may be for a different unit than mine. Also, I only have the viewing software, to my knowledge, it is not capable of changing the pressure settings on the card itself. Not sure if the clinic software is available to the general public?
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
Re: SmartCard data- HELP please
I bought the M Series Auto that I have, on my own and I bought a Smart card and the software to go with it.
My Smart card was never programmed by a DME. I had to change the setting on the machine and it would be changed on the card so that the change and the detailed data showed up on the software.
I'm not sure how it works when a card is programmed with a pressure by the DME. I don't know how you would go about changing it.
Sorry I can't be any help . Maybe someone else will know.
This will at least bump the thread up again and someone who knows may see it.

You are probably right.
Now that we understand your problem a little better, I think the title of the thread is not attracting the people who could help you best. Why don't you go back to the top of this thread and edit the title so that it says something like "Problem Changing Settings on *** machine" where '***' is the proper name of your machine? That might drag in the right people to help you with this.
(Lots of machines use SD cards. Many of those people can't help you--you need the ones with expertise on your machine, not with general smartcard expertise.)
Re: SmartCard data- HELP please
Razorback, see if your machine instructions are on this page:
http://www.apneaboard.com/CPAP%20Adjustment.htm
I think it is, I just couldn't remember your machine name while I was there.

Re: SmartCard data- HELP please
Encore Viewer won't let you reprogram the card. You can reformat it by going to mycpap.org and downlooading the free utility. It will let you save the data if you want to but if you reformat the card it will no longer change the settings when you set them.

Re: SmartCard data- HELP please
6PtStar- sounds like reformatting may be the key to my issue. Unable to find mycpap.org though...located a mycpap.com, but not seeing a free utility there. I have an appt with my DME (not even sure what that stands for just yet, but I've gathered it's Dr- ha!)...so I probably need to have a discussion with him about my intentions to "take control of my therapy" so he'll know that I plan to wipe the card etc...or I guess I could just order another card for my experimenting?6PtStar wrote:Encore Viewer won't let you reprogram the card. LoQ - thanks for the info again! Glad to know there is a fellow Razorback on here...it should be a good year for the Hogs!
Hawthorne- your info leads me back to the extra Encore card for personal use...net net, I guess what is on there now will be considered "old" data once they download it this week anyway- so maybe I just reformat after the visit.
Re: Problem with Remstar M Series w/A- Flex SmartCard
2 things -
Formatting will erase ALL data.
When the DMe downloads they will erase ALL data.
DME is not the doc. ok thats 3 and I'm outta here.

Re: Problem with Remstar M Series w/A- Flex SmartCard
I downloaded the Smartcard toolkit from mycpap.org....reformatted the card, and the past two nights no data has been recorded to the card. Did I miss a step? Thanks team!
Re: Problem with Remstar M Series w/A- Flex SmartCard
I don't know. You might try one more night, the "M" Series had a date glitch in the firmware and would occasionally skip 2 nights in a row. I don't think I ever had it do it right after I reformatted it but not sure what else to try. When you put the card in the machine does the little card symbol show up on the screen? Could be a bad card but generally the mycpap.org utility will generally pick that up. You also might clean the golod spot on the card with a rubber eraser. If one of the contacts does not make connection it won't work correctly. Sorry, thats all I can think of at this time.

Jerry-
The card does show up on the screen when inserted. I'll try the eraser trick and hope that the third night in a row does the trick. When I say it doesn't show any data...the Encore Viewer software never even highlights the Download button for me to attempt to pull data off the card...I'm wondering if the software isn't seeing the USB drive (however, I have successfully downloaded data from this card with the software...but that was only when I was using the settings set by the Dr...hence why I reformatted, hoping to be able to record data based on the settings I believe are helping me. Thanks again for your help!!!
