personal question for those that wish to respond

Post by sleepymama » Tue Aug 17, 2010 1:30 pm

i wish it was anonymous cause i know some of you won't respond even if you have something to say. i'm curious to know how many of us have lost our sexual drive? i see that sleep apnea can cause impotence in men but i haven't found much information related to women. i've had a low drive for sometime now and wonder if the sleep apnea is part of it. i was just wondering if others find that this is true for them. both men and women can feel free to reply on here or send me a message if you do not want to post it for open view. for those that have found this, did u find that treatment with cpap has helped?

Get your hormone levels checked to make sure you are making all the girly homones that your body needs. I don't mind saying my manly-man hormones were all all out kilter but monthly shots make it all better. Sorry I got so technical!

Sex drive? What sex drive? Oooooh, right, I forgot I ever had one. Occasionally there are benefits to a poor memory!

Seriously, I'm pretty sure this is common, as every time I used to go to the doctor, I'd have to fill out a questionnaire that would ask questions about whether sleepiness affected my sex drive, and whether it made it more difficult to achieve... (I'm not going to say the word because I've already caught hell on this board for my offensive posts.)

For women, too, the manly hormones affect sex drive. Women can be too low in testosterone, which can result in low sex drive.

I don't think Sleep Apnea is much of a player in loss of sex drive directly. How rested we feel does affect our sex drive, other things such a depression, low self worth, hormones play a much larger part. The Brain is the most important sex organ. Jim

Participating in internet forums destroys the sex drive.

Hanging around sexy women restores it quickly.

Yes, but but girly testosterone is pink and wears makeup.

Here's what I know...I'm only 40 years old and my testosterone levels were low and my cortisol levels were high as well as my cholesterol. My diet was fairly clean and I work out regularly. You can't tell me that's not from lack of sleep. I must say that I didn't have a lack of drive but the "stiffies" just weren't like they used to be. You know what really bothers me, the primary complaint I went to the doctors with was that I was always tired but if I left it up to them I would have been on 5 different drugs that would never have taken care of the real problem...apnea! Sleep affects everything.

My husband and I have had sexy time 5 times since February 2008.
I'm hoping the machine helps me feel like me again because our relationship has suffered severely and may not make it. I've only been on the machine for 13 days and feel much worse. I'm still hopeful, but it's tough.

For the last 10 years I had no interest and since my relationship fell apart, I have been happily celibate - until about 3 months on m cpap when suddenly it didn't feel so great anymore.
I joined a group and have thought about going to the socials - I actually met some of them at the street fair this weekend.
I also joined a drawing group so now once a week for 3 hours I get to stare at a naked body from all directions and socialize with the other members - including the naked body wrapped up. I figure it is kind of like re-sensitization treatment.
