I have read the S9 and ResScan Clinical manuals manuals and can't find the answer of how to do this. I have my main data for me as one patient. But I also want to set up a "Test Data" file as if it were a separate patient so that my tinkering doesn't affect my main data. I have set up a separate Test Data patient file in ResScan 3.11 but can't see how to select that "patient" on the S9.
Do I need to use a separate SD card for each "patient?" And if I do use separate cards, will the two "patients" data co-mingle in the S9's internally stored data?
I appreciate someone enlightening me on how to accomplish this.
ResMed S9 How to Configure for 2 "Users" Files
Re: ResMed S9 How to Configure for 2 "Users" Files
I don't know about the S9s as they haven't introduced an S9 VPAP Auto yet. However, the S8 and S8 IIs' data cards could be used for two different PAPs if you so chose. The S8s and S8 IIs stored the data in the PAP rather than on the card, the card was just a vehicle to move the data from PAP to 'puter software. No need to have two different cards.
We'll have to wait for an S9/ResScan user to answer this question for us.

I think you'll probably want to keep 2 separate SD cards for the 2 'patients', based on which one you want to trial. That way, you'll never have to separate the data when you download. The S9 doesn't know the difference and is set up to just deliver therapy to 'whichever' patient is connected.ldj325 wrote:I have read the S9 and ResScan Clinical manuals manuals and can't find the answer of how to do this. ResScan asks you to "Open patient" before downloading the card. I would assume you could download the same card to as many patients as you choose to set-up. I don't know what would happen if you put a second card in it for a test (or an afternoon nap).

To clarify: the machine itself does not distinguish different "patients". That distinction can be "created" to "fool" the ResScan software.
Unlike M Series Respironics machines, where data is written to the card in "real time", ResScan cards are loaded from the machine's memory each time they are plugged into the machine. They are then filled with the "entire memory" stored in the machine. Two cards are of no value; they will each have cumulative data.
The only way to accomplish what you are trying to do is to manually ERASE ALL of the MACHINE's MEMORY on a daily basis, so that the ResScan card contains only ONE DAY of data, and you can download that card for that day into whatever, or into however many, "patient" files you wish. (I recommend one "cumulative" file with every night data in it, and then repeat the download to whatever "special patient" files you set up). I THINK (though I am not certain) that it is also necessary to ERASE THE CARD each day using the software (this is what I do) after you have completed your downloads into ResScan, lest the machine ADD TO the card rather than simply replace everything on it when it is plugged into the machine.
As I previously explained, there are possible downsides in erasing machine memory and card memory. But in order to obtain "multiple patient" distinctions from the software's perspective, this is the only way I can see it being done. Velbor

In that you were referencing the S8 in that post, I keep hoping the S9 would do it differently, at least with a "whole" user file. But it may not be as no one has stated a way to do this with the S9. I can see how what you are talking about would work. I'm just not sure I'm up for the everyday discipline that seems to be required in your work around.Velbor wrote:I have provided the information you need in response to your earlier post on this topic:ldj325 wrote:..... Re: ResMed S9 How to Configure for 2 "Users" Files
You probably need to disable the auto download after detecting a Resmed card in the reader facility, as that is primarily a convenience feature for a sleep clinician - to provide automatic association of a specific patient (file) to their specific flow generator.ldj325 wrote:I have set up a separate Test Data patient file in ResScan 3.11 but can't see how to select that "patient" on the S9.
If you don't use auto-download, you will be able to select the patient file, using 'open patient', before you start the data download form teh ResScan or SD card (as appropriate) and so can direct the data into whichever patient file you want. You can also download the data on the card into several patient files by changing the patient file after finishing the download and then downloading the data again into the newely selected file.
Cheers,
Bill
