Hydration problem

Post by saskman » Thu Aug 05, 2010 5:43 pm

Its going to be a couple days before I get my humidifier, my question is what can I do to keep my nose hydrated? I bought saline spray and its not really helping.

I would suggest that you put some vaseline on a cotton swab and stick it WAY UP in each nostril, and place a film of it on the septum, the cartilage between your two nostrils. It's gonna feel kind of "wrong" to stick a cotton swab up there. Do that at least twice a day, but especially before you go to bed.

Make sure the vaseline is high enough into your nose that it doesn't make contact with the pillows of your mask. You can try the ayr gel, but it doesn't have as much staying power as vaseline. On the other hand, the ayr gel won't harm your mask pillows so you don't have to avoid getting it in the lower section of your nose.
